Faith
She looked down at her feet as she shuffled onto the stage, trying to clear her throat at the same time, all the while thinking and hoping that she would not make a complete fool of herself in this new venture.
She felt a thousand ‘butterflies’ (A million more like it) fluttering frantically within her, albeit trying to find their way out, she thought.
Then all sorts of thoughts went crazy in her head flooding her very being as she remembered what led to this moment of sheer bravado (being on this podium, daring to confront such a crowd of people is way out of her league!)
“Go away!” Why couldn’t she simply get rid of this premonition of something about to go wrong and embarrass her… big time!
Her eyes darted here and there as she looked frantically around for … courage? Then her gaze settled on him, in the front row, a thin, scraggy individual, had a nasty leer of an expression, making a nasty face at her. “Why was he doing that?” It took a while before she realised it was his ‘natural’ look, then a smile spread and etched its way on her lips; no more taking him serious, she dismissed all other thoughts and began to focus as she made to start her solo…
Suddenly he gave her such a petulant look, she could only stare at him without shifting gaze because it was the most comical look she’d ever seen on anyone, she busted out in a shrilled laugh… she guffawed, going on and on and on!
No matter how hard she tried, she could not stop! With a side glance she saw her manager (her mum actually!) looking daggers at her
Now she knew she had really put her foot in it!
Ready to be booed off the stage, and then… wonder of all wonders! It suddenly dawned on her that the audience was laughing hysterically, some with genuine tears rolling down their cheeks, the story was, the more she laughed the way she did, the funnier it appeared to them and it looked like everyone had been bombarded with funny bones from all angles.
I stood for only a few seconds, dazed and in awe of how a near ‘fatality’ had been turned into
f-a-v-o-u-r !
Then all the pain, disappointments, depressive feelings and past hurts didn’t matter anymore, she knew she could do it, she knew she could bounce back and be filled with divine courage to confidently take the proverbial bull by its very dangerous looking horns and not be afraid!
I am picking me up in His strength
