A priest ran an ad for a caretaker-housekeeper. A young man came
to the rectory and said, "I came to see about..," but was interrupted
by the priest who said, "Can you sweep, make beds, shovel walks,
run errands, fix meals and balance a checkbook?" The young man
said, "Whoa, I only came to see about getting married, but if it's
that much work, I'm not interested."

It's not always what it seems to be. Unfortunately, it can be like
that in the church. We can get false impressions of those claiming
to be upstanding Christians. Some talk a lot better than they walk
while others are shy and not demonstrative and walk a lot better
than they talk. We get in trouble when we try to be "fruit
inspectors" and begin judging.


We need to give others the benefit of our doubt and make sure that
our own walk is worthy and will not detract from the reputation of
Jesus Christ.

I know we are taking this out of context, but the words fit so well:
1 Sam. 2:3 (nlt), "Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don't speak
with such arrogance! The Lord is a God who knows your deeds;
and He will judge you for what you have done." So, let's give the
judging chore to our God, and look after our own deeds. Okay?
