Where’d He Go?



He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

As an amateur artist, I find some times my creativity a bit lacking, but I chug along hoping to be enlightened with the next brush stroke. Then after 1,000 brush strokes the failing Picasso before me, helps make my decision to throw in the towel, and toss out the paint stained clothes. Layers of paint hide the attempts made of either a badly combined color scheme, the perspective is off, or the choice of painting has dwindled and no more excitement is felt like in the beginning when canvas was new.
One day a painting I felt inspired to do was coming along well until I tried painting the third fisherman pushing a fishing boat, called a Jangada into the water. For some reason I could not like how he was coming along, so I wiped him out with a wave. Yes friends, the fisherman is still in the painting, but invisible to everyone but my husband and I. Every once in a while, as the picture hung over the fireplace, Bill would say, “Look! I can see air bubbles from where you left the man under the water. You know, when you wiped him out with a wave! Poor guy! He still waits to be rescued.
To this day when I look at that picture I see this fisherman under the wave. We have laughed a few times over this, but it does show a very important lesson for both the believer and non-believer.
Like in many of my paintings, I gave a brush stroke to hide a flaw or error purposely given to the canvas. Yes I meant too, but it wasn’t the right stroke. It should have been lighter, thinner or not at all, but none the less it is there. With paint I covered it, but in our lives the mistakes and wrong choices we desperately try to hide, can still be seen. The only way to wipe out our sin is to trust the Lord with His ability to take it away, not cover it up.
The Bible says our sins will be buried in the deepest sea never more to be remembered. God looks at me and doesn’t see my sins I have committed against the Father, if I have confessed Jesus as my Savior and asked forgiveness. He only sees His Son Jesus and His shed blood for me. Wow! That is something to get excited about! Have you been a Christian for some time? Are you lukewarm? Do you need to be reminded again by the nudging of the Holy Spirit, of what Jesus did for you?
There are many people drowning in their sinful condition. Can you see the desperate air bubbles reaching the surface of the deep sea? Reach a hand out to someone and bring them in, Bring them in to the Jangada, out of the sea that desires to swallow them up. They are waiting to be rescued. We can try to rescue all that are physically hungry, and that is great, but God asks us to rescue those next to us being wiped out by the sin of this world.
Can you see air bubbles floating in the waters next to you? Put your hand out, and bring them in!
Father,
I feel wiped out at times, covered by the waves of circumstances that surround me. Make the storms go away, and let me feel your calm again, please Heavenly Father. Help me to reach out to others in need of a friend. In Jesus name I pray.
