Try Ignorance
Whenever action precedes purpose, there is most likely to be an abuse of purpose. This can be widely seen across all spheres in life. The successful failure of the people of Babel was simply a problem related to ignorance or negligence of the instructions of God. We have millions today who abuse their liver through excessive intake of alcohol because they lack understanding about how alcohol destroys the body. Some husbands also abuse their spouses because they are ignorant about the role of wives in marriages. Even nations today are abusing their resources because they have invested little in understanding the use of these natural resources. Success remains in the dark when ignorance shines as light.
“Ignorance is a bane which keeps people always suppressed and prevents them from coming out of their shelves to accomplish their purpose in life.”

That is why God said in the book of Hosea 6:4, ‘my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.’


Many people are suffering today because of lack of basic understanding about their purpose in this life, that is why you have a lot of people languishing in marriages they are not supposed to have been in the first place, people tied on jobs that frustrates them and also many people broken down in hospitals across the world because they didn’t know that their lungs were not created to take in smoke from hard drugs.

“Failure flourishes when ignorance becomes entrenched. The death of success is the gain of failure.”

The reason why I don’t take in alcohol or smoke is because I have found something more important for my life that these things would interrupt with. So I have to stop whatever would stop me from fulfilling my dream. When you have purpose for your life, it disciplines your behavior. Purpose always defines what one does and where one goes. An action stemming from clearly defined purpose relieves man from so many mistakes and preventable heartaches in this life. Knowledge of purpose reduces abuse of life and offers a life worthy of living to man. Purpose can always survive without success but success in life is dependent on purpose.
When you closely read the story of Moses in the Bible, you would realize that he knew that God would save the Israelites by his hand (Acts 7:25) but he got the strategy wrong. While Moses was thinking about adopting a militaristic approach by killing the Egyptians one after the other, God had a totally different plan of action and eventually, he had to spend 40 years in the wilderness to understand some of the purposes and ways of God concerning his assignment. The ways of God are different from the ways and purposes a man devises in his own heart. Knowledge of purpose is very important for man, but one must always commit his purpose to God and not assume to accomplish this purpose with his own might.
