A CHRISTIAN’S HEART

The desire of the Christian’s heart … Is to simply please the Lord
And so we’ll have no part … In what our God abhors
The knowledge of good and evil … Embedded at our birth
By refusing to follow the devil … From the wicked we suffer hurt

But with God given strength … We will not be defeated
And will not take of the drink … In which the foolish are indicted
We may even give our lives … And in ecstasy be sent home
In joy we’ll suffer strife … Knowing we’re not alone

So the fools can pass their laws … And tell us that sodomy is okay
But the commandments of our God … Are the rules that we obey
Though while in, this body of flesh … We struggle: At times we fail
It’s in the Spirit we are blessed … And our sufferings soon will pale

We see the world falling apart … But we are not surprised
For our God is in our hearts … And in His hands, our glorious prize

The vast majority is choosing Hell … And that is terribly sad
Around their hearts a hardened shell … They have gone truly mad

My needs are all met … I’m at peace and well fed
But I yearn for what’s next … Toward where I’m being led
A city with streets of gold … Peace and beauty we can’t imagine
The promises all foretold … From the moment of our creation

The devil is free to do his worst … Because our Lord is Just
But in the end he is cursed … As he burns to a crust
