"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you." Luke 6:27 NKJV.

The above verse of the Scriptures is a direct and straight forward command from Jesus Christ. Every lover of the Lord must obey ALL His commands without exception. This command of the Lord may look "hard" to obey by Christians but with the help of the Holy Spirit, it can become easy to obey.

One thing I have observed about every command of Jesus Christ is that each has great benefits. To access these benefits calls for following each command to the last letter.

Now, let us examine about five reasons, among others, Jesus commands us to "Love your enemies".

REASON ONE.
Peace is sure.
You will be at peace with your God and yourself. Loving your enemies will not allow your relationship with God to be strained. You will not have any hidden root of bitterness in your heart towards anybody. The Lord your God will be pleased with you all the time.

Your heart will also be at peace. You will have no time to brood over what your enemies have done to you and to think about ways of revenge. Your will spend your time on things that are good and pleasing to God.

REASON TWO.
You will not sow evil.
If you love your enemies, you will not sow an evil seed. Hatred is an evil thing. If you hate your enemies, you will not hesitate to do them evil. If you sow an evil seed, it is sure that you will reap the same.

Therefore, Jesus does not want any evil to befall you that is one reason He command you (and all His followers) to love your enemies. The law remains forever,
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the spirit will of the spirit reap everlasting life." Galatians 6:7-8 NKJV.

To love your enemies is sowing to the Spirit and you will reap everlasting life.

REASON THREE.
Love is an effective weapon of conversion.
Jesus Christ is the best pattern Christians can follow. He is a Doer of what He preaches. He lives by example. No believer can claim to love Christ before conversion or salvation. Romans 5:8 reveals to us,
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

It was Christ's love that converted all Christians; so your love can also change your enemies to become your friends. Jesus informs all believers that,
"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." John 15:14 NKJV.
Therefore, you can turn enemies into friends if you love them.

REASON FOUR.
Enemies will be at a risk.
You will put your enemies at a great risk. How? Love is a good thing. To love is to do good. In the same vein, to hate is to do evil. If you do good, you are supposed to reap same. If you do evil, you will reap it.

Now, if you do good to your enemies by loving them and they continued to hate you, they are sowing evil and will reap evil. The book of Proverbs 17:13 reveals,
"Whoever rewards evil for good,
Evil will not depart from his house." NKJV.
Can you see that to "Love your enemies" is a sure weapon to destroy your enemies?

REASON FIVE.
It an evidence or proof.
Are you a child of the Most High God? If you are truly saved, you must take after your Heavenly Father who adopted you by His love that never fails. You nust do whatever He does . Christ instructs,
"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you; do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons (daughters) of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5:44-45.

Do you want to resemble your Father in heaven? Then, love your enemies! This "love your enemies" will aid your being rapturable because you will not have bitterness of heart against anyone. Although you must obey other commands to be worthy to go with the Lord when He comes.

Are you ready for Him? The Lord will come anytime from now. Love your enemies!
