As most girls know being a Christian and being a teenager can be a hard task to deal with at the same time. You want to do all these things for yourself but at the same time, you want to do things for God. Whether it is struggling to fit in at school or you just don’t know how to deal with a situation, being a “completely devoted Christian” can be difficult. Many girls these days are more worried about how many likes they get on selfie, then how their they are portraying themselves as believers’. More and more I see Christian girls end up saying that they’re saved but not acting as if they are. I certainly can relate though, I once to did the exact same things as most girls do today. I sometimes still even struggle, but I am going to share with you some things that can maybe help explain some subjects that a lot of you may or have dealt with. They have helped me, and although some of it is just common sense remember, the Bible always has the answers.

1. Impressing others

It can be nice to impress, especially those who you think highly of. Sometimes you feel like you have to portray yourself as “someone” else in order to get someone to like you. Many times girls try to look their best to impress a guy that they may like. Which often result as looking a bit trashy, so some girls pull their shirt way down, maybe a skirt that’s really short, and don’t forget all that makeup. Basically what I’m saying is, if you show more then you get more right? Well not exactly. Guys often see that as eye candy and even they may seem to like it, they really just want to get in your pants. I know that isn't something you want to hear but it’s true. So why would you do those things just to get used in the end? Yes, Impressing is OK, if you do it the right way. God doesn't want you to use your boy as a tool to get attention from others. He is very clear that your body is a temple and should NEVER be shown in provocative ways. If you want to impress, you should impress God by showing him that you respect his authority. For others showing that you do respect him should plenty of heads turn.

2. Peer pressure

Often times we all fall into peer pressure. Whether it’s getting pressured into doing drugs or simply getting pressured into dating someone, the bottom line is, there are ways to handle it. Many girls fall into peer pressure because they feel like if they don’t do it then they aren’t doing what they “should” be doing. They don’t want to seem like a baby or like that are any less worthy than another. So when someone asks you if you wanted to smoke a joint, would you? Maybe all your friends were going to party to get drunk, would you join them? Or maybe if your boyfriend asked you for an inappropriate picture or even sex, would you fall into peer pressure and do it even though it was wrong? Now don’t get me wrong, everyone does it. It doesn't matter how old you are or if you’re a girl or boy. It happens, but it’s a choice. God asks us as Christians to live for him, to please him. In the end if we don’t obey God, there will be a consequence. So in the long wrong would you rather get drunk and risk your life because you felt like you had to? Or would you want to obey God and say “OK Lord, I know you want me to not do this because you love me, so I’m not going to and I will trust that everything will work out in your plan”. God only wants to keep us safe, by doing the right thing and the choice God wants you to make, yes you may lose some friends or how you’re viewed by others may change, but at least God is smiling and you know that by listening you made him proud.

3. Reputations Matter

I hope as you’re reading this, you see that the last two topics sort of fall into to one another. That if you’re trying to impress others that you’ll most likely fall into peer pressure. Well those are very important when it involves your reputation. You hear people talk about how you always need a good “rep’ and that If you don’t have one then you’re seen a certain way. Well I think that the definition of a good reputation has been twisted into something that it isn’t. In high school many girls want to be seen a certain way whether it’s popular, smart, athletic, there all things that girls want to be. It’s basically viewed as you have to label yourself to even exist. The reputation that Christians talk about is basically a Christian who stands out because they are so devoted to Christ that you have to seek Christ out to get to that person. It’s someone that loves the Lord and it truly shows. Yes, there are “good” types of reps, but why would you just want to have people know that you’re a good girl instead of having them know that you’re a God girl? A reputation shows the kind of person you are, it shows your heart and intentions. God wants his “daughters” to show others that they love him. That no matter what someone else thinks or what’s you to do that your love for him surpasses all that. He already thinks that you are popular, smart, athletic, and so much more. Why would you change yourself, your reputation for someone that is so much lower than God? In the end, God’s the one who will righteously judge you. So let all those other opinions go, and start living for God.

4. Living as a God Girl

As you read the last three points they have covered impressing, peer pressure, and your reputation. There are a lot of other subjects that I could have mentioned, but I felt God wanted me to point out these three. Being a teenager can be hard, especially as a Christian. Living for God, is hard for anyone. It’s human nature to want another human to see us as this “perfect” person. We often forget that God’s opinion is the only one that will ever matter. God loves his daughters and he wants the best for us. He asks us to do things not because he wants to ruin our fun, but he does it to protect us. Sometimes it can be hard to understand how God thinks of us, as humans we mentally can’t truly ever understand it. The one thing we can know though is that God didn't leave us empty handed to walk through life not knowing how to manage life. He gave us his holy word. Here are some verses that may help understand what I have been saying. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 “But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.”, 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”, Proverbs 3:1-4 “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.”, and Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
