IN MOM'S BIG LOOKING GLASS

As my life began
My thought did span
Over all the land
In Mom's Big Looking Glass 

I've hardly a care
With my pet Bear
Safely in my chair
In Mom's Big Looking Glass

To my heart  alien
From the song I pine 
Yes the music is mine
In Mom's Big Looking Glass

Yesterday is old news
Tomorrow may be abused
So today I must choose
In Mom's Big Looking Glass

From all my sin
My life did mend
With Christ within
In Mom's Big looking Glass

Mom had the unique talent of having eyes in the back of her head. For she not only knew all, she could see all.  And in times of my preconceived misbehaving, she would grab my ear, and away we would go to the pantry. For it was in this infamous pantry, where she kept "the board of education" as she called  it. And I just know this hide-a-way, amongst the can goods and the other stored fixing, just had to be sound proof. If you know what I mean, as my young hearts intrepid  cries for help never mattered one iota .    

Well, those apprehensive times have long since gone. Believe it or not, I wish they could be relived in my life, for I miss Mom so. You see, often times it takes what seems to be a life time, for one to come to t sense of reality.  

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." ( 1 Cor 13:11)

I must admit, I didn't  always make Mom's task easy, as she attempted to explain and embody the character and holiness of God (Deuteronomy 6:4-7), even when I rejected everything to do with God.

And I know now that Mom's raising was for my adoration (Proverbs 1:8-9). Now, that  I have matured, life's bumps are so much easier to negotiate, thanks to her being that  guardian angel in my life,  who unbeknown  to me  had prepared me for life's challenges and struggles. Without the benefit of her covert  preparations, I would had not have made it in life. 

In conclusion, Motherhood is surely the sum total of a Christian woman's responsibilities. A  child of God (Romans 8:14),  a respectful wife (Ephesians 5:33), and an essential part of her local church (1 Corinthians 12:4-31). These traits were all displayed in Mom, as she always exhibited the characteristics  of  Christian motherhood by supporting, training, and empowering others so they can make their own contribution to God's kingdom. Yes, Mom did in fact have a "Big Looking Glass"
