Our key verses found in Mark 6:2,3,4,5,6 state…And when the Sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty word, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went around about the villages, teaching. KJV

I considered the salient points pertaining to Sabbath. The word Sabbath left a misconception to some followers of the law in today’s age of revelations. On those days of Jesus, Jewish people regarded him as a poor man, in a low socio economic status as a son of carpenter with four brothers. That law minded Jews with critical spirit accused the Saviour for what he did during Sabbath days of rest on healing people and teaching them. Our Lord did not relax, he worked and continued to teach and heal people.

What is really the implication of Sabbath and God’s rest? Sabbath in the New Testament denotes a shadow of resting in Jesus Christ. God installed my faith to trust on him on his rest to what he has provided for my liberty. All provisions are ready for me to receive by appointment. This is my Sabbath. What must I do to enter the Sabbath(God’s rest)? God’s rest is not a form of relaxation without working in leaning on God’s operation in our lives. I laboured on the hearing time of the gospel of truth, reading of the word of God, resisting against the evil situations. God’s wisdom is made available. Doing something religious is not God’s rest. We do something with unbelief on the finished works of God.

What were the finished works of God declared for my provisions? Glory to God, his finished works were completed at the Garden of Eden, his creation on the seventh day and Jesus Christ at the cross in John 19:30…It is finished. God finished everything for our provisions from the foundation of the world. We are walking around with Our Lord who is ready right there in the Garden of Eden. That is my spirit with the Lord. I did not mean, I have nothing to do anymore in resting for God. I laboured to rest on God and I must learn how to rest on God. I should fight old law traditions and cease from effort of self-attitudes and self-righteous ways with contradictions. This is my point on what labour in God’s rest means. Religion cannot take the wisdom of God’s rest. Some professed Christians are running after God to get God’s blessings. The heart of unbelief controlled their own religious attitudes of self-preservation on their set of values not from God.

Don’t mishandle the provisions of God. Be cautious. Be diligent. Be careful. Provisions are already existing right now and made available in Hebrews 4: 3.. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, as I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Because of unbelief in v.6.. Seeing therefore remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not because of unbelief. Unbelief on God’s rest, one failed to trust and depend in Jesus. God rested today on the real people of God in V.9,10.. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Therefore, God rests on us in order to labour by listening to his word, reading his word, meditating his word, fellowship in his word, we are ready to spread the gospel of truth. We are free from unbelief. V. 11 say… Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. My spirit is the Garden of Eden.Everything is supplied in God's rest and I receive them. Thank God for his Sabbath resting in me and I labour for it. Hearing by faith and sharing God’s words are my labour. Romans 10:17…So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Faith is our positive response to what God had already done by grace.
