There are so many lessons to learn from the book (and life) of Job, the righteous. God was proud of this man's righteousness despite the fact that he was in comfort in the real sense of it. However, Satan made sure that he lost all that he had. One interesting and faith building statement about Job's story is,
"In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." Job 1:22; 2:10.

Lesson One.
Job was able to maintain his faith standing before God without wavering. At a point in time, his friends who could muster enough courage determined to visit him when they heard all that came on him.

On arrival when they saw Job, they teared their mantles and clothes and they put ashes on their heads; for seven days and nights, they did not speak a word.

However, at a point, these three men, Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar became somebody else after they heard Job's lamentations. They saw Job as a sinner and wicked man. They condemned him totally because they blamed his predicament on his past evil deeds.

They thought they were speaking God's mind but it was not so. Job finally called them,
"...miserable comforters" and "...Phycisians of no value." (Job 16:1c)

According to the words of Job, they reproached him "ten times" (Job 19:3). They failed to be a source of comfort they planned to be. They almost became Job's enemies.

What was God's impression of them?

The Lord declared,
"Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering: and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job." Job 42:18.8.

Now, who is that fellow going through tough times near you? What do you have to offer? Do you have any word of comfort, words seasoned with salt? Do you see the person's predicament as an opportunity to criticize, judge or condemn him?

Do you understand that every evil that befalls people or bad things which come upon them are not always consequences of sin or corrective measures?

Therefore, do not say anything if you do not understand the heart of the Lord on another person's situation. If not, you stand the risk of being corrected by the Lord Himself. Please, watch! Matthew 7:1 stands forever.
