A jigsaw puzzle can be so rewarding. Whether I am fitting together two pieces, or completing an entire section like a sail boat, a field of flowers or a cabin on a lake, I get a sense of accomplishment. And as I continue working the picture becomes more and more complete, until eventually I am rewarded with a complete, beautiful picture.

When it comes to my life, there are moments when it feels like the pieces are not fitting together. I recall a traveling evangelist who was scheduled to preach at a church, but as he got up to the pulpit and started preaching, he realized he was exhausted and had nothing to give. None of the puzzle pieces were coming together. At that moment he simply broke down and began to weep. After he regained his composure he looked up and people were walking up to the altar to give their lives to Jesus. What he had considered his worst moment God used in a powerful way.

Perhaps when it looks like nothing is working Jesus wants us to take the puzzle pieces of our lives and dump them out at the foot of the cross, where he can gently and lovingly pick out the best ones to create something meaningful, something beautiful, something miraculous.
