RESTORE THE WEAK BELIEVER

We have to bear the failings of the weak believer, which doesn’t mean that we have to be a partaker of their sins but to bear their burdens, console their guilty feelings, and restore their spiritual life. With my painful heart I want to share what exists among our believers that is, taking avenge of the fellow believers’ weakness or their failings. Some even mock at them or criticize their failings and made them to cut off from their congregation. Others mishandle the situation and made such believers to give up his or her Christian belief. We should not be party for their life going backwards. In Gal 6:1 “ Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently”

We have borne the likeness of the earthly man. In that reason, many times Satan may use our flesh to instigate us to do sin against God. Those who yield to the lust of the flesh will be the one failing in their spiritual life. In contrast, Bible says in Rome 8:10 “If Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your sprit is alive because of righteousness”.

Let us see the Bibles’ exhortations on who can bear or restore the weak believer and how to restore them. In Romans 15:1-3 “We who are strong ought to bear with the failing of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written; the insult of those who insult you have fallen on me”

Watch Yourself

Of course we ought to bear with the failing of the weak in the same time, the Bible warns you in Gal 6:1 “But watch yourself or you may be tempted” For that we must have the Christ like characters to deal with such weak believers.
- We must not please ourselves.
- We should please our neighbors for his good to build him up in spiritual.
First we will see Christ like Characters.

1. We must not please ourselves:
The real disciple of Jesus must have His likeness. It is said in Luke 9:23 “he must deny himself’ like Jesus. Because Jesus never pleases himself but please His Father in heaven. He wants you also to have same likeness of not pleasing yourselves. Bible tells “Jesus made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness” If you have His likeness, then you will have His attitude, in Philippians 2:5 “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ”. Even though he was made in human likeness, the Bible witness about him was without sin. There are believers who look only his or her spiritual and their personal blessings, not even shake hands with his fellow believer in their congregation. This is not an attitude of Jesus’ disciple so you must have concern for your brother. His likeness comes when you deny yourself like Jesus with His loving nature. In 1corinthians 13:5 Love “ is not self seeking” If you are a disciple of Christ, then you must full fill the law of Christ. You know what is that? Gal 6:2 “Cary each others burdens, and this way you will full fill the law of Christ” Don’t please yourself that will not expose Jesus in your life but focus you only. That will drag you to posses a self-proud nature at last you will not know others’ feelings. That may lead you not to full fill the law of Christ but make you poor in your spiritual life. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). To be a strong and rich in sprit, carry each other’s burdens, please your neighbor and not please yourself.
2.We should please our neighbors:-
We should please our neighbors for his good to build him up in Jesus Christ. Look unto Apostle Paul who pleases every one to win as many as possible for Christ. When I say we must please our neighbor means you must not compromise with their bad but for good to build him up in Christ. Christ did not please himself; He pleases His disciple and Father in the Heaven. Even He washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:14,15) and said “…. you also wash one another’s feet I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” Ph 2:4 “Each one of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others” When you do this really! Then it brings peace in you and in your congregation also it brings mutual edification. Many times in the congregations we don’t find oneness in worship. The reason is that they don’t please each other rather they please themselves only. In Romans 14:19 “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification”

How can a strong restore the weak?

1.Pray for the weak:
If you pray for the concern to which you are going to deal with that will really work much more in the process of restoration. Even you speak one word with your prayer for such weak, that itself will make him to confess and will get guilty conscious of his sins. Then he will repent and come back to the spiritual life. At the same time, Bible warns you for you must deal only with those whose sin does not lead to death. 1John 5:16 “If any one sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that”. You know! The value of the righteous man, James 5:16 “The prayer of righteous man is powerful and effective” Also the Bible says 1John 5:14 “…if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” What is the will of God? The will of God is “… not wanting anyone to perish, but every one to come to repentance” Surely He will hear your prayer for the weakness and set the weak free.

2.Restore them gently:
In Gal 6:1 “Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently” Many they don’t know how to deal with the weak Bible says gently because they are already weak if you hurt or irritate them by your words they will go to backslide life once and for all, you have to give an account for that. Your words should compassionate him and draw him near to Jesus. You should stand in the gap for him that is the secrecy wining the weak. Whenever Jesus encounter with the weak He approach them gently.

3.Judge not to the dispute matter:
This is the major reason for many to give up their faith or break their congregation. When you teach the word of God gently, it definitely works on him, In Rom 14:1 “Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgments on disputable matters” In James 4:11 “Any one who speaks against his brother or judge him speaks against the law and judges it” Who are you to judge your neighbor? V12 “There is only one law giver and judge, the one who is able to save and destroy” So accept such weak with compassionate love and guide him to spiritual.

4.Make the weak to confess:
Many are having the habit of confessing to the human and they have got forgiveness. This is not the right practice to confess for forgiveness. Surely it will not give them the real repentance. They must confess their sin to the Lord. 1 John 1:9 “He is the one faithful and he will forgive his sins and purify him from all unrighteousness” Jesus is our high priest, in the book of Hebrew 14:15 “For we do not have a priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way just as we are-yet was without sin” What a wonderful savior we got! Certainly Jesus will make the weak perfect if he confess his sins and repent from that. In Isaiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak”

Dear believers in Jesus Christ! My heart desire and prayers to God for the weak is that they may be saved, be hold oh you spiritual! In James 3:2 “We all stumble in many ways” But “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed” (Lamentations 3:22). So “Brothers do not slander one another” (James 4:11) According to Romans and Gal 6:1 “Accept him whose faith is weak and restore him gently” In James 5:19-20” Who ever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover multitude of sins” Mathew 18:14 “your father in heaven is not willing that any one of these little ones should be lost” Set yourself now to share the burdens of the fellow believers’ weakness and give hand to come up from his failings.
