I remember being "inspired" once to gather all my championship t shirts and those my daughters had acquired and given to me to be sewn together into a kind of tapestry or wall hanging to be placed in the study with other trophies. After painstakingly collecting all the shirts and turning them over to a friend of a friend who was skilled for such a project, I waited eagerly for the result.
It wasn't that any of the achievements were so overwhelming or spectacular, they were intramural or church league and city league accomplishments that were meaningful at the time, and they had accumulated over the years.
Trouble was our seamstress never could go through with the task. And because she couldn't, I began to wonder if it was really a worthy project after all. I could have found someone else to do it, but when she let it drop so did I. Maybe this circumstance was God's way of saying, "I want you looking forward not backward, you haven't seen anything yet; just stay tuned to the kinds of things that I will do next!
Most of those t shirts that were for that brief period all in one place at one time have since been scattered irrecoverably. But I sense that there is another tapestry underway, one only seen through the eyes of faith.
