"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 18:10 KJV)

Guardian angels... They do exist! They are not like the M&M guys bumping into Santa Clause each astonished that the other exists. And Jesus knows exactly what they are doing! That brings an interesting question though. Over the years, I have seen some really neat and inspirational art work depicting the activities of what a guardian angel may be doing. Even beyond that in both my immediate family and extended family I have members who have witnessed first hand the activities of a guardian angel.

Yet, there is something very different about how Jesus describes what a guardian angel is doing. He says, "do always behold the face of my Father". This sounds much more like a very intense starring contest with the Father. A gaze which has a very constant, unwavering, purposeful focus. A gaze which never leaves the author of life despite the incredibly horrible things that do happen to many children. A gaze which never misses so much as the facial expression of the Father as the prayers of the saints are lifted up before His presence. A gaze which is ever ready for immediate action should the Father send them to intervene. A gaze which never ever makes the mistake of being distracted by their own opinions, thoughts, comments, or independent courses of action. A gaze which is among the purest forms of surrender that is capable of an extraordinarily powerful force.

Do you think it wise to have a healthy respect for anyone who has that kind of clarity in the presence of God the Father? Would that kind of clarity be a really good advocate for each child before the throne of God? There may be unspeakable horrors that take place here on Earth, but would you rather find yourself on the helping or hurting side of that fence as the prayer of that little one reaches the ears of God? While it is a powerful question to ponder, it also makes us consider how we would face issues if we had that type of focus on the face of God. How are we to see His face? If we are at a temporary disadvantage by not having that type of clarity, then we must seek His face with an ever greater diligence. If we cannot see Him directly, look for the effects of His presence. Look for where His bride is. Look in His Word for a track record. As you diligently search Him out; He will be found! And not just found, but found to be clearer and clearer as you draw nearer. The trick that these angels seem to know is to not take your eyes off of Him even for a short distraction. What council can we offer God that will show Him how to manage situations better? Learn with an intensity what it is that God loves and how generous His love is and how He will deal with injustices.

"The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him." (Psalms 34:7-9 KJV)
