‘ Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.  Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for you!" Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come." So he travelled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.’

So what is our part in the matter?

Preach the Word.

When we speak on behalf of Jesus, we must not yield to the temptation of sharing personal prejudices.  We must allow God to deal with our prejudices and bring us in line with His will so that He can use us to direct others to Him. We must share the gospel in its fullness. That is why it's important to have quiet time with God, so that we can understand His will for our lives first. Once we embrace His Word, we will live it out. It will be evident in our lives (speech and actions). We will then teach with the authority that Jesus gave to us. Everything in the Bible is written for our edification. We must preach it in and out of season. To do that we are fulfilling the Great Commission to go and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them all that Jesus have commanded us to do. (See Matthew 28:16-20).

If they do not know the will of God, in order to surrender then baptism cannot take place and they will not have fertile soil to receive teaching of His commands. We, therefore, have a greater part to play in this matter by first being obedient to the command to go and preach the gospel. It all works in order. 

I love the Lord with all my heart but if I don't know His will for my life, I cannot help others to understand His will for theirs. It will simply be the blind leading the blind. I have made so many mistakes, trying to represent Christ in my response to others. Believing, at the time, that I am doing what is right, I look back and realised that I have failed miserably. I then feel guilty for being a poor example of a follower of Christ. Then I realise, hey! I'm on a journey of discovery. I will continue to make mistakes while on this journey through a broken world.  The beauty, however, is in learning from those mistakes and getting a step closer to being more Christ-like. As I learn and grow, I try to share the experience to help others along the way.

In conclusion, I do hope and I pray that my sharing will help someone to either confide in an authority figure who can support you on your journey, rather than one who will lead you down the wrong path. I pray someone will reach a place of repentance and allow God access to the place of deepest hurt in order to bring healing. I pray for continued growth in the lives of those who are called to speak out on behalf of the hurting among us, that they will do it in love and not allow angry words to fuel the fire or cause more problems. I pray also that parents will pick up the baton and be the main educators in the home, refusing the media access to the minds of our children before the foundation has been laid.

I pray that leaders in the church will recognise that they do have a high calling. That they will recognise the need to preach the Word of God in it's entirety, without fear, so that congregants won't have to wonder or ask, "What would Jesus Do?" Rather, they will know from the preaching and the teaching, exactly what He did, what He still does through others, and what He also expects of us.
