Then He brought us out from there, that He might bring us in, to give us the land of which He swore to our fathers (Deuteronomy 6:23, NKJV).

For a lot of Christians, the place of transition has become for them a place of permanent abode. Where you are currently may not be where God is taking you finally. Elijah when discharging his mission was at one point situated at the brook Cherith. It was meant to be his abiding place temporarily. Every day without fail a Raven brought his meals for him. If you are where God positioned you to be every supply will locate you at the address where you are. When the brook dried up, it was time to move on. Then he met with a widow and sojourned with her for a while before he moved on. Eventually after he had commissioned and anointed some people into various positions, he positioned himself walking along the road until a chariot of fire transported him to heaven.

The wilderness was not God’s final destination for the Israelites. It was a period of transition. It took forty years for them to get into where God has promised belonged to them. No matter how long you’ve had to mark time, it is only transitional. No matter how long the vision tarries, don’t throw it away. Don’t make a permanent decision over a temporary situation. Don’t be traditional where God wants you to be transitional. Don’t be like Peter desiring to build three tabernacles for Jesus, Moses and Elijah. Their mission was not to come and stay on earth. Peter’s tabernacle could have served as a deterrent to their mission. Always when God takes you out of something it is so that He can take you into something else. You will never know fulfilment in your life until you discover the path, walk therein, reach for the door, open it and enter.

So you’ve been delivered from ‘Egypt’ and now you’re in the wilderness. While you wait, build tents if you must but no permanent structures are allowed. Recall that anytime the cloud lifted, the Israelites broke camp, took down their tents and moved on accordingly. Wonder what would have happened had they decided to build permanent structures. In Egypt that was what they knew how to build. But now they had to learn to build tents that could easily be taken down. Save building the permanent structure to where God will finally assign for you to build. One major reason we suffer lack is because we have become so accustomed to the wilderness we terminate our journey there. We become contented with the resources available in the wilderness. But the resources in the wilderness are limited. God brought them out from Egypt through the wilderness to the land He promised them.

In Egypt, they didn’t have enough. Everything was a struggle. Not enough straw to build bricks, not enough food to eat, not enough freedom to do as they pleased. It became for them a land of not enough. Insufficiency was the rule of the day. They depended on the mercy of the Egyptians.

When they found themselves in the wilderness, the situation improved a little. They had just enough. Every day’s food was gathered that same day. No barns to store up excess harvest. The manna that is in excess dissolves into the atmosphere after everyone has had the quantity needed for that day. Any food they tried to store got rotten the following morning except on the sixth day and that only because of the Sabbath. Water supply was according to per need basis. The wilderness became for them a land of just enough. Sufficiency was the word they became accustomed to at this stage. They depended on what the desert has in store for them.

But that was not God’s best. He planned for them to have more than enough. It took two men to be able to carry just a cluster of grapes. That was how fruitful the land was. It was flowing with milk and honey. It was overflowing with abundance. It didn’t say trickling with milk and honey. Flowing – connoting abundance. David pictured it well when he penned down “my cup overflows”. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over is what God has in mind for His children. The Promised Land became for them a land of more than enough.  The new word prevailing then is surplus. Their dependence was on God whose supply store is full to the brim and replenishes itself as blessings are being fetched out of the store house. Unfortunately, not every one of them patiently trusted God to get there. Some of them only experienced not enough and then they died. Others experienced just enough then they expired. Those who patiently waited to the end, experienced more than enough. How true the words of Jesus, “they that endured to the end the same shall be saved”.

He took us out of sin and transported us into the realm of righteousness. He became poor so that you and I can come into wealth. He took our diseases and sicknesses so He can introduce us to abundant health and wellbeing. He gave His life so you and I can have life. Only that He wants us to have it more abundantly and in increasing measure. He closed the gates of hell so that He can open to us the doors to heaven. Hallelujah! I want God’s best. I will not settle for anything less. I want to be so blessed that the overflow alone can quench thirst of a nation.

God’s best is good enough for me. God’s best is what I am yearning for. Nothing but the best. Nothing but abundant eternal life in Christ Jesus. That is what He desires to bring every person on earth into. If you are not in a relationship with Christ, you don’t know the extent of what you are missing. Get right with God right now and enjoy the benefits. If you are in sin, you’re living in the land of not enough. By giving our life in total surrender to Him, He takes you out and into the land of just enough. For many believers that may be where you are right now literally and spiritually. But get ready to go for a ride with the Lord as He carries you on His wings to the land of more than enough on this earth and eventually to the land of untold and unquantifiable beauty beyond the sky.
