After several weeks, John finally realized that there was nobody at his house to welcome him, or to give him hugs. 'What have I been doing, thought John,' and where is my family?' He tried calling all my friend's with no success. Then he called my parents, who said they hadn't seen me or the girls. After another week of desperation,John tried to stop drinking, though it was hard after he'd begun. He eventually called my sister Nancy to see if she knew where we were.

Nancy handed me the phone, as baby Annabelle napped on my lap and the girls played outside in the backyard with Pluto, my sister's sheepdog. I listened to what he had to say. Then I told him that we were not ready to come home yet. I inquired about how he was, and he said miserable, and he missed us. He told me how sorry he was that he let selfishness over business matters get in the way of our family.

Multiple calls later, and I told Nancy I was going to try to earn some money and get our own place.

"Sis, you can stay here as long as you need to. But I can help you find some work that you can do from home.I know this woman is the Boston Market who is looking for a seamstress to assist her. It is not good money at first, but it could increase." I thanked my sister, and asked her to arrange it.

Two years after, my 3 daughters' Annabelle, now 3, and my twins, Grace and Nelly, now 7-years-old had own own house. My occupation was a child care provider and a seamstress.

Meanwhile, I found out John started going back to church, and it was said he stopped drinking. Okay. I need to see that portrayed in his life. One a bright, sunny Saturday, I was getting a picnic lunch ready to take the girls out to the park, when the doorbell rang. Nelly raced to the door, and shouts of glee emanated from her mouth.

"Mommy! Mommy, it's Daddy! It's Daddy!" She ran back into the house and lept on the kitchen counter, smiling.

So, I went out there to see what John wanted.

As he saw me, his eyes brightened, and moistened with tears.

"Oh, Renee, I know what you're thinking. I did give up the alcohol, and I have changed my priorities. You and the girls are more important than any business deals. Renee, I also have accepted Christ as my Savior and asked Him to forgive me of all my sins. Now, i am asking you, will you forgive me?"

I told him that I forgave him, and I was willing to give it a try...

Five years later, John and I were reunited and rededicated our lives in a marriage re dedication ceremony as a covenant. Our girls were delighted and Christ was now the center of our home. John's business started to grow, as well as a ministry he started to helped men who were trapped in addiction.
