Hello world! This month I turned 52 years old. I have never been big on birthdays, I guess because of my introverted personality I just don’t like the focus to be on me. I have never had the need to be in the spotlight; that is just not the way the Lord wired me. I get my fulfillment in life by helping others shine, and there is none I want to shine today more than my precious angel who has been so sick these last several weeks. So Lord, today I ask one thing, please heal my precious wife. She means the world to me, and my heart breaks to see her like this. Let Your healing hand lift her out of bed this morning, feeling like a new woman. So she can once again be a beacon of light in this ever darkening world. She was the light You sent into my life nearly 26 years ago, a time when I was lost, and my life had no hope or meaning. I still remember that 26 year old young man, who had no passion for life. But here I am 26 years later and have a life filled with hope and purpose; and it was this precious woman of God who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself. She put her trust in me, which gave me motivation to be the very best version of me possible. When I met her, I was a lost soul with no hopes or dreams. But today I am so extremely hopeful for our future together, and have dreams that I know You will help me fulfill. Lord, this is my ONLY request today; may Your will be done!

Today, I confess I just do not feel my age. I know what the calendar says, but how could I be this old? I think it’s because it wasn't until I met my wife, at age 26, that I really began living; until that day I simply existed. Those of you who have read my book know what I mean; my life has been anything but boring. It’s like when I met Janice something inside of me came to life, and that thing is called love. I’m not sure back then I knew what love was, but today I am sure of it. It’s this thing that just continues to grow, and every time I think I can’t love her more, it proves me wrong once again. Brad Paisley has this song titled, Then

The chorus says:

And I thought I loved you then

These lyrics pretty much sums up how I feel. What I have learned these last 26 years we have been together is just how precious love is. Franklin P. Jones said, “Love doesn't make the world go ‘round. Love is what makes the ride worth while.” and I couldn't agree with him more. It’s God’s precious love for me, and the amazing love he has given me for my precious bride that has certainly made my life a ride worth taking.
