Carry On Items

I wonder if past generations shared in our curiosity about the pyramids. One frequent topic of interest is what archeologists find buried alongside the deceased in ancient tombs. It appears that we are not the first civilization to surmise erroneously that you can take it with you.

Today, I was routinely folding my husband’s handkerchiefs after removing them from the clothes dryer. I got ta’ thinking. What would I send on with Norm? There is no doubt that a handkerchief tops the list. He would never forgive me if I failed to include one in his burial suit.

A comb ranks at #2 on most wanted items. I’d better make that two because he never has been able to keep up with his combs. He explains that he loses them when he pulls out … you guessed it, his handkerchiefs.

It won’t be easy to explain his third carry-on to the mortician. ‘Just exactly where should I place the remote control, Mrs. Davis?’ His hand would be the logical answer but I’ll respectfully say, ‘Anywhere out of sight.”

Seriously, neither Norm nor I will have any use for carry on extras. “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out (1Timothy 6:6-7 KJV).”
