The earliest memory I have of alcohol consumption is when I was a kid and my dad gave me a sip of his beer. By 12 years old, I was drinking pretty regularly. Not long after that, the dried goods (drugs) entered the scene. I started smoking weed at 13. When I was 16, my dad died from cirrhosis of the liver from drinking alcohol. He was 47. I started doing cocaine at 18. I consumed crack cocaine in my early 20's. Through it all, alcohol was a constant. By the time I was 25 or so, I quit weed, cocaine and crack, choosing instead to go full-tilt on alcohol as my drug of choice. Little did I know that firstly, alcohol is the most fatal drug in comparison with other drugs and, secondly, that my bottom was a few years away. On May 1, 2000, I was arrested for an A misdemeanor charge, facing a year in jail. Without getting into detail, I was drunk and an incident happened. Because the incident was non-violent, I was given a chance to enter a substance abuse program. When all was said and done, around December, I was given 3 years probation. I completed a 3 year outpatient program and have been sober ever since. September 4, 2000 was the last time I ever drank or drugged. I know what people were/are saying. "If he didn't get arrested, he never would have gotten sober." Although that may be true, I choose to look at it another way. I could have ignored the courts and continued drinking and drugging. There's no doubt that if I took that route, I'd be dead.
There's no doubt in my mind that GOD had a plan for me. I've believed in HIM for a long time but, like many others, I went back and forth. I accepted Jesus in my life so many times and backslid. The last time I did was February 9 2014 and, this time, I'm trying to do it right, developing a relationship with Jesus, day by day.

Victor, what a wonderful testimony...Continue to Seek Jesus first in your life and spend time with Him everyday and He will guide you and give you the Peace and Comfort and the strength you need. And as you grow in the Lord and walk closer and closer to Him all those bad things and thoughts will leave you...I will keep you in my Prayers...God Bless You...Robin
