1 Samuel 17:34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, 35 I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. 36 I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! 37 The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”

It would have been impossible for God to use David to defeat Goliath had David not learned to beat the lions with a club to protect the home flocks.I often have witnessed men who appear ready to fist fight a demon at church. But the bear cubs live in his house clawing his family and picking over their bones. When I want to see what kind of stronghold the enemy has assigned to me and my family we just pray every day. By the 5th day it is always apparent that I (and they) also need a Shepherd’s club.

1 Timothy 3:4 He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5 For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?
