The Small Stuff

I am sure most of us have heard or were told: “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” At times, we should cherish some small stuff. They are often the most precious. Small stuff is sometimes our greatest lesson and will serve as well if we make the effort to know and understand them: kindness, generosity, faith, a hug, saying “I love you!”, “let me help you”.

If one thinks about it, some of the most significant aspects of life revolves around the small stuff—small words and small deeds—but they are so important, even necessary that they are huge. A small glass of ice water given a very thirsty man or woman; a dollar for a sandwich for a child or a half dozen diapers for a mother’s child, is huge in the sight of heaven. Small, short poems can inspire millions. A small child’s statement of innocence can generate excitement. Simple joys may last the longest.

Persons of influence and power are made up of many persons of small influence.

It is the small things which keep the world shining—small rays of light day by day and small sparks by night.


Prayer:

Lord of the universe, I pray this day that You grant me the ability to appreciate the simple things in life—fresh air, childhood laughter, freedom and the beauty of Your creations large and small. I thank You for the things I take for granted, Your unconditional love for me and for forgiving me of my sins. I pray Your light and truths will open the eyes and hearts of believers and non-believers to Your unconditional love for them. May they come to find Your peace. Amen.
