"Questions To Consider" By: Crystal Diaz
I often hear many people give such praises to an individual by saying things such as: "They are such a good person", " they have such a good heart" or a heart of gold.
I have some simple questions to ask which one should consider the next time these praises are given.
1) Do you know every thought that a person thinks?
2) Do you know every word a person has spoken or speaks?
3) Do you know everything a person has done or does?
4) Do you know how that person has treated or treats everyone?
If you answer yes to any of these questions than you are making a claim to be an omnipresent, and omnipotent being. All knowing and all seeing. So I ask another question, can you tell me everything I have ever said, currently say, ever done, and currently do?
There is only one person in the history of the world who claims supreme divinity being all knowing, all powerful, and all seeing with the message of absolute truth. In addition, all major religions: although doubting his claims of deity, still speak of him being sinless and good in all ways. This man is Jesus Christ. Yet when he was approached by a man who called him good this was his response:
Matthew 19:16-17 NKJV
16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
If the only person who is good in every way understands that no one (mankind) is good except God (Christ being God incarnate) he wanted the man to know this by looking at himself, and his idea of who is good (read the entire portion of this scripture to see) How is it that today people are so easily given that title of good ?
This is not to say people don't have good things about them, but we also have bad things about us. So to title one as good when there is bad present is to give a new definition for the word, which gives it another meaning: in which makes the original meaning null and void. So then what meaning does the word good have?

Jesus came to die for us because "our good isn't quite good enough." I think you said it right, everyone has good qualities but also bad too. I think we should spend more time trying to see others the way our Savior does. He can see PAST the junk and lead us toward our potential. On top of that, He GIVES us his righteousness IN SPITE of our own shortcomings.
