In times of deepest trial,
people who suffer most
speak right words of truth,
give wise comfort and counsel,
pay a huge cost to bind up
aching wounds, bitter heartache.

They suffer more than most,
to see the glowing lamp of life
extinguished in a blaze of glory,
their cup of joy snatched away
at the pinnacle of happiness.

Suffering is very hard to bear
but it makes us nobler and
equips us to help others.
Wrest out of suffering
all you can to help others,
as God wills it of you.
