In the 7th chapter of the Book of Daniel and the 15th verse Daniel says, "I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit within my body (or in the midst of its sheath) and the visions of my head troubled me. This seems to imply that the spirit is like a sword and the body, and even our accustomed disposition, it's sheath. (Coming out of ourselves means we don't need to be repeatedly taking our own spiritual pulse and other vital signs.) That fits with what Paul says about spiritual armor in Ephesians chapter 6 about the sword of the Spirit being the word of God. So when we as believers come out of ourselves in obedience to or in the proclamation of the word of God we become powerful weapons in the hand of God!
