He is With Us, Through the Valley

Imagine your Lost in a Desert, the sun is beating down relentlessly, your body is weak, dying of thirst, Suddenly through the shimmering heat, you spot what appears, like an oasis in the distance, your heart jumps, your mind screams.. 'Yes' Shade,Water,and Coolness..But wait!! As you go...your immensely disappointed,you discover it's only a mirage, it's nothing but sand! You collapse in total exhaustion, you drained the last bit of your energy, you tell yourself.. this is it,I'm dying. Suddenly, as if a bolt of lightening strikes,..you recall Placing a GPS, and a full gallon of water in your backpack. No,the backpack wasn't left behind, its strapped on your back!  

                                                                                                                            My mind,went to the story of Elijah.(1 Kings 19:11-12) When he climbed Mount Horeb to find God. As He was kneeling suddenly there was a powerful whirlwind, next a violent,teeth chattering earthquake..then a Raging wall of Fire..Elijah bruised and shaken, stumbles to His feet, tired from the long day of hiking the mountain, tired of desperately seeking God for answers,tired of running for His life. I Imagine Elijah thinking..'So this is the way God treats me? In complete despair Elijah screams,'God.. why? Where are you?. Tears stream down His face..all is quiet, as the sun silently slips behind the horizon. Suddenly, He hears a quiet whisper...Son 'I'm here',I've been with you all this time. I'm the God, that killed all the prophets of Baal with one word, I'm the God that fed you in the wilderness via ravens, I'm the God that raised the widows son to life,as you held him in your arms. Elijah..why are you discouraged?, Why so afraid?

    Often, we feel like were in the 'Desert of Life' Yes,We have witnessed miracles, and supernatural transformations, We try to live Godly lives, only to face incredible challenges... We watch,as a loved one fights cancer, a marriage, On the Rocks, A friend abandoned you, a son,or daughter fighting they're own battles. Like Elijah, worn and tired, finally we Pray.. 'God just kill me!! As we lay there,bloodied and bruised.. We hear the still,small whisper, 'My Grace is sufficient for you,My strength, is made perfect through weakness. (2 Cor 12:9). As we claim the promise, We feel the warmth of His Love and Grace sweep through our heart, the anger and anxiety, slowly melts away. Suddenly we realize, He has been with us all this time (deut.31:8) He promised, to never leave or forsake us!, With Him,we Can.. and will make it through.                              Yes we still may be in the desert of life,but He's eqipped us with His Holy spirit to make it through the valleys, and on to the mountain tops.
