Simon was a disturbed young man. His marriage wasn’t working, despite all the effort he put into it. He struggled with poor self-worth and it showed up in his relationship with his wife.

He knew his poor self-worth was the reason for his struggle, but the knowledge didn’t help him change. He needed something greater to undo the imprint of his negative self-image.

One day, a friend gave him a book to read; it was about using the Bible as a prayer book. "Thanks buddy," said Simon politely, but later on he put the book in the bookshelf. "My problem wasn’t acute enough to make me feel I needed help," he said.

Months later, when his marriage was on the brink of break-up, he picked up the book and read it, desperate to find a solution.

He followed an instruction in the book to pray ten psalms out-loud everyday. On the first day, something happened in him; tears of healing rolled down his eyes, as he prayed out the first ten psalms.

"I felt God mended my broken heart. As I got to know Him, my poor self-imaged changed. I began to believe that God loves me and cares for me deeply."

"Three months after I started praying the Bible, all of my relationships changed significantly, including my relationship with my wife. God was changing me!"

This year, Simon and his wife celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. Simon continues to learn to be a loving and responsible husband. "I am still learning! I know God helps me to get it right, as long as I am humble and teachable."
