Women

For centuries, women have been doing great things and God has used them in many ways; so it is an error to think that you are disadvantaged because you are a woman. The world we live in may want us to think we are less than men or an inferior form of the human being but his is far from God’s truth.
Esther was a woman but she saved an entire nation and where men could not speak a woman was required to speak. Where men could not go a woman was required to go because God chose to place the destiny of an entire nation including the destiny of millions yet unborn on the shoulders of one woman.
Esther was a Jewish slave girl; she lost her parents at an early age and was brought up by her uncle Mordecai. While in captivity by what seems like sheer luck but was actually a favour of God, Esther emerged queen of the same nation where she had been a slave and where her people the Jews remained in captivity. Then arose Haman, who desired not only to kill Mordecai but all the Jews and at the time Mordecai realised that Esther might be the saviour the Jews required to be rescued from annihilation. Esther at first was reluctant to approach the king on behalf of her people because she feared for her life and she feared because she did not realise the potential inside her as a woman. Eventually she agreed to do what was required of her and with a fierce determination, saying, “If I perish, I perish.” She prayed to God and stepped out in faith and things turned out positively for the Jews; Haman eventually was hanged on the very gallows he had set up to hang Mordecai.
There are lessons to learn from this story. First, every woman has great influence with the husband she submits to; she can practically talk him into or out of anything. It is a power that God has given all women and the more a woman submits to her husband the greater this power over him. When Esther approached the king to ask for a reversal of a decree he had already signed with Haman, we must understand that she was asking for the impossible because in chapter 8 we are made aware of the fact that whatever decree is written and signed by the king can’t be changed (I believe this is what affected Vashti so that even when the king’s anger was pacified he was unable to bring her back because a decree had been issued against her). However when it came to the decree that the king issued against the Jews, under the influence of Haman, Esther was able to change it.
Second lesson is that women are a lot bolder and fearless than even they give themselves credit for; Esther was fully aware of the implication of going before the king without an invitation. It was death unless the king stretched forth the golden sceptre, but she went anyway and was ready to die for the cause she believed in.
There is an Esther in every woman, let the Esther in you rise up today.
