Setting: A very special couple is moving to a new city. Joseph is taking a new job.
Mary is with child, traveling with Joseph. They are traveling in an old car.

Narrator: The time is early evening. Mary and Joseph have been traveling on
The road for a long time. They are just out side the city of Bethlehem -- Ohio. Suddenly a loud Bang and then a clunking noise are heard.

Mary: Oh, Joseph what could that be?
Joseph: I’m not sure but we will have to stop to see what is wrong.

Narrator: Just as Joseph pulls the car of the road the car dies completely. Joseph repeatedly tries to restart it, to no avail.

Joseph: Mary I afraid we are stuck, I will have to walk for help.

Mary: Joseph, please do not leave me here alone, I must go with you.

Joseph: In you state, I am not sure how far we will have to walk, I am not sure you should.
Mary: That’s partly why I am afraid to be here alone, if something does happen we will be together.

Joseph: OK, but I will carry only what we may need for the a night at a hotel room.

Narrator: So they both start off on their journey. Soon after they a truck drives by and splashes them with mud and oil. Joseph reaches in the bag he is carrying and finds a shawl to cover Mary with.

Joseph: Here Mary use this to stay warm. We will get clean up as soon as we get to the hotel.

Mary: Thank you.

Narrator: They travel for almost an hour several cars and trucks passing by. Mary is starting to tire and is very uncomfortable.

Mary: How much further Joseph, I don’t think I walk much longer.

Joseph: Hold on Mary, we are almost to that hotel up ahead. (He puts his arm around Mary to support her.)

Narrator: Soon they arrive at the hotel. But the sign for no vacancies was lit.

Mary: Oh! Joseph, they have no vacancies.

Joseph: We will still go and check.

Narrator: Joseph and Mary enter the hotel, but their disheveled state and being covered in mud and oil, people looked at them in disgust. A hotel manager comes out quickly.

Joseph: Please sir, my wife needs to rest, please help.

Hotel manager: No, we have no vacancies and you must leave now. We don’t want to upset other customers. Leave now. There is a place around the corner that is more of
service to your kind.

Narrator: Mary and Joseph left, Joseph concerned more so about Mary’s condition.
The traveled down the street and around the corner. They arrive at a seedy motel.

Joseph: Mary this motel looks a little on the rough side.

Mary: God will protect us, I need to get rest, do let’s go in.

Narrator: They proceed into the motel and a lot of people are just hanging around.
A lot of the people look on the rough side. Joseph and Mary proceed to the counter.

Hotel clerk: Hello, can I help you.

Joseph: We need a room for the night.

Hotel Clerk: Uh! We don’t have rooms, and we don’t want no homeless pregnant woman giving birth here. Law suites and all.

Joseph: Please, my wife is so tired.

Hotel Clerk: No, and leave now or you will be escorted out.

Narrator: Joseph and Mary leave the motel.

A lady of the evening notices them and takes pity, and tells them where to find shelter.

LADY: There is a shelter just down the street maybe they can help you.

Mary: Thank you.

Narrator: Joseph and Mary go down the street to the shelter. The place is crowed with people and there is no room. A volunteer sees them and tells them directly.

Shelter Volunteer: We have no room, we are over flowing with people. I am truly sorry.

Narrator: Joseph is distressed for Mary’s condition. Mary is in pain, and Joseph is desperate for help.

Mary: Joseph I think the baby is going to come tonight. We need to find shelter.

Narrator: a Slick young looking guy, notices Joseph and Mary’s plight. I have simple lodging I would let you use for the night.

Slick guy: I have simple lodging I would let you use for the night.

Joseph: Please sir, is it far to travel?

Slick guy: No it’s right here in the alley.

Joseph: In the alley?

Slick guy: Do you have a problem with that?

Joseph: No, No, lead on.

Narrator: Joseph and Mary proceed down the alley, and in front of them is a large crate box. The Slick guy goes to the hinge on the box and opens it up and lights a candle.
Inside the Box is a slim mattress and little shelves with assorted books, and some water bottles.

Slick guy: It’s simple but it’s clean and it’s my home.

Joseph: Thank you, Mary is going to have her baby soon.

Slick guy: I will watch out for you to make sure all is safe.

Joseph: Thank you

Mary : Thank you (uncomfortably). Joseph I told you the Lord would provide.

Narrator: Mary settles in and soon after delivers a baby boy, they call him Jesus. In another part of town a Fireman, a cop and a paramedic feel an overpowering need to
Drive to another part of town, where the baby Jesus was just born.
They arrive at the alley and the box, and approach.

Slick Guy: Hey! Who called you guys?

All: No one.

Fireman: I felt a strong push to come here and felt a need to see something glorious.

Cop: the same is true for me.

Paramedic: This is really weird, I felt the same.

Narrator: They proceed and make sure all is well. They see the most glorious site, surely
This child will bless all mankind. In yet another part of the city a meeting is being conducted, a senator, a millionaire, and the governor. They have been friends from birth, and have study prophecy and the stars together. The knew a prophecy of a new King to
Be born. They have traveled far and think now there journey is at an end.

Senator: It’s tonight, all our searching will have come to an end.

Governor: But everything points to a rough part of town, it does seem odd.

Millionaire: This King is special; I believe we will find him.

Narrator: They travel to the site they have been searching; they reach Mary, Joseph, and the baby.

Slick guy: WOW, what are you doing here?

3 in unison: We have come to see the King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

Narrator: All present fell to their knees; joy and awe filled their hearts.

Pastor: Have you come to Christ, have you felt the joy that can fill your soul.
