The Westminster Catechism, in presenting a brief definition of God, succinctly says that He is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in His Being.

How many times in life have you changed ? Changed  your mind, changed your thoughts, changed an idea, changed direction, etc ? Well, as the old cliché goes," I've been there and done that".

I once had a work supervisor, who displayed a placket on his desk that read " I said maybe and that's final".

However, thanks to our Father God, we have a God who never changes (Malachi 3:6). Who was, Who is, and Who will be the same forever (Hebrews 13:8).

What is actually meant by having a God who is constant or unchaining ? To give argument to this, we must first go to His many attributes ? (an attribute is a property intrinsic to its subject and by which the subject is distinguished or identified) So,let us go to  God's word, for the answers.

Our God has existed from eternity past and will exist for eternity future. He is without beginning and without end (Psalms 102:25-27). God is perfect and therefore cannot change for the better and will not change for the worse.

God is Infinity, meaning without termination and finitude ( 1 Kings 8:27) (Acts 17:24). God is Eternity, meaning free from succession of time (Genesis 21:33) (Psalms 90:2). God is Immutability, meaning God is unchanging and unchangeable (James 1:17). God is Omnipresence, meaning He is everywhere (Psalms139-7-12). God is Sovereignty, meaning He is the supreme ruler (Ephesians 1:8). God is Omniscience, meaning God knows all actual and possible things. (Matthew 11:21). God is Omnipotence, meaning all powerful (Revelation 9:6). God is Justice, meaning morally equity ((Acts 17:31). God is love, meaning He is always seeking the highest good (Ephesians 2:4-5). God is Truth, meaning He is in agreement to and consistency with all that is represented by Him (John 14:6). God is Freedom, meaning He give all his creatures independence (Isaiah 40:13-14). God is Holiness, meaning righteous. ( 1 John 1:5).

How then may we mere mortals understand and accept this unseen, unchanging living God ? Simply put, it's a matter of faith (Hebrews 11:1,6). Of course, it is sometimes hard to except or believe the existence of someone, whom we have not seen. That's where faith comes in. In the 20th Chapter of John's gospel, we have a perfect example of faith. One of Jesus' disciples, Thomas, told the others that unless he saw and touched the risen Lord, he would not believe (John 20:25). Then, when Jesus appeared again to the disciples, Thomas believed after physically touching Jesus ( John 20:27-28). And what did Jesus do ? He left a promise to all us who now take Him by faith (John 20:29).

Yes, God is glorious in His holiness; His deity cannot cease to be. God can never change from faithfulness to unfaithfulness, from omnipotence to impotence, from holiness to unholiness, from righteousness to unrighteousness. All things happen according to His unchangeable plans.

"Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his council, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold unto the hope set before us" (Hebrews 6:17-18).

You see, God never came into being. He is Being, and the source of all other beings. Yes, our God has been, is, and will always be  forever. Thus, He is constant, kind and true, as the afore mention video gives testimony.
