Philippians 1:9-10 NLT I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. FOR I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHAT REALLY MATTERS…

Do you usually feel overwhelmed? In man’s view of Christianity a person can never do enough. You can never do enough right because you will always have your flesh. You can never give enough because there will always be more needs. No matter what you overcome you will still have more to overcome and so on. When we keep our focus on what we're doing or not doing we will be overwhelmed; we will not be focused on what really matters!

The King James version says that we will “approve things that are excellent.” Another translation tells us that we “cannot do everything” so we need to choose what is best.

"Excellent" means to make matter, be of more value. What is of more value to one is not the same for another. We all have different gifts and we need to use them instead of trying to do what everyone else thinks we should do. When we go along with what everyone else wants, we end up burned out. We also need to quit insisting that others be just like us. Walk in love - treat others how you would want to be treated. Do not burden them with your expectations.

Trust that you have the wisdom you need because Christ lives in you – you can distinguish between what is valuable and what is futile for you. You can distinguish between what matters and what doesn’t when you abide in the Word of God and He is directing your steps, not man.
