Did you know that your strength is found in the roots you have planted? Your roots receive their strength from the foundation or soil in which they grow. This generation has their roots planted in the ground of self-sufficiency. It is not an uncommon belief that you can do anything as long as you believe in yourself; but scripture has it different: Only through Christ who gives you strength can you do all things (Philippians 4:13).

It is a horrific fact that this generation, void of dependence on God has produced more moral perversion than any other generation that ever lived. It is no longer strange to see news on abuse, rape, murder, terrorism, or embezzlement just to mention a few. It appears that ‘in God we trust’ has been tainted to ‘in gold we trust’, and the words ‘under God have long been erased from ‘one nation under God’. Where is this generation planted?

Wherever you plant your roots from that place, you draw your strength. When you’re planted in Christ, from Him you’ll draw your strength. The Bible tells us to plant our roots in Christ and let Him be the foundation for our life (Colossians 2:7).

Many of us would like a fruitful or prosperous life but that doesn’t come without being built up in Christ, which is only possible for those who are first rooted in Him. Where is your foundation? Upon that Rock, who is Christ should we be planted as He is the only sure foundation.

None but those who are planted and remain planted in Christ are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. Jeremiah 17:8 NLT
