Lord how I like to run
Faster than all of them
And far too often, too far in front of you
You just don't seem to move fast enough for me sometimes
Still, I do know from experience what this will bring
I find I am standing alone, and once again I do not like it
Then, as if never to know or have known
I do it all over again

How can a loved one put up with such impertinence?
After only giving and never taking
That kind of love is incomprehensible to me
I wish I could say it was not
That I could love purely and unconditionally
But that is no more than a mere image in my mind
A depth of heart I cannot reach on my own

Yet here you are
Again and again
And once again I have run so far ahead when all you had asked was to walk with me
I find myself among darkness with no concerning faces
With silence around me as the sound of every voice turns meaningless
There is no victor in the emptiness I have again chosen

So I will run back to you
I will use all my strength to make it there
I will attend to nothing on my journey until I am there
Oh how I hope you are still waiting for me
Oh how I can only hope

As I turn I see you are not miles behind be, but just a step
And in your eyes I now see that as I left you, you stayed with me
I need not run back to you
You have been chasing me all along
I reach to you with the wonder of a single question
What if these things have removed me from you lord?
A gentle breeze touches my face and your smile gives me the answer
"Remember I told you son...that no one would be able to snatch you from my hand"
--------------

You never need to hope my child
I will be waiting
For I Am your hope
And I will Never let you go
