His not deserving to be vacant of virtue
Death claimed an inculpable tent
Indulgence hardly seems a fair trade for sanctity
Sacredness was dealt away for the sake of presenting to us clarity
Who would make such an exchange?
Surely not I!
Who would pay such a steep price when they do not owe it?
Not me!
Who would not collect when payment is due?
Probably none of us

Fortunately there is one who would
Who did
Overflowing with righteousness and abounding in love
He filled us to the core
Covering our disease by wearing our skin
Becoming sin when transgression could not indict Him
Unimaginably bearing the wrath of the Father so we could escape
While giving us, the cause of his endurance, the immersion of life
Presenting us with pure water to wash ourselves clean
That which can finally satisfy the unquenchable
Turning our stained garments to white robes that hold the immerse of freedom

Now we can be seen as justified
We are as righteous as Christ
Yet this only by the gift of His righteousness
Imparted to us through the baptism of Water
Filled to the top of our trophy by the cup He chose to drink
Now when the Father looks at us He no longer sees the stain of sin
Instead, He sees His son
Standing between us as the open way to the Father
As the mediator of reconciliation
The author of our salvation

The veil has lifted and the glow now resides upon the aroma of Christ
Our lamb with no defect
He has marked our doorway with his blood
Allowing death to pass us over
We now may appear in confidence as blameless on the day of our hope
So raise your voice in harbor
This is the moment we can finally celebrate children
Today we are guided into the restfulness of our homecoming
And it is a forever day
