The greatest trend in world political history is also the least discussed or taught in history books. THE ABOLITION OF MONARCHY, (A monarchy is a form of government in which sovereignty is embodied in a single individual). This trend is at the root of most major events in world history in the past 350 years.History books pay close attention to details but have literally lost the forest for the trees.

HISTORICAL EVENTS TRENDING THE ABOLITION OF SOLE RULE

Kings, Emperors, Czars,Queens, Kaisers, and other various titles and for the most part dictators(A Dictator is a poverty stricken cousin to a Monarch). They have all but disappeared from the face of the earth. There are some exceptions but these are mere death throes.

Was this trend ordained by God? Was this trend prophesied in the Bible? What part did the formation of America play a part in this trend?

In Daniel 2:31-44 we have the clearest prophetic overview of world history from the time of Nebuchadnezzar until today.

It is clear because it was designed by God to be understood by believers & unbelievers. That is because it was given to an unbelieving king and interpreted by God’s prophet. So regardless of your spiritual status you should be able to understand God’s foretelling and directing world history.

Often quoted by apologists to demolish the arguments of atheists Daniel 2:31-44 clearly shows world history projected forward to this very day by Daniel and King Nebuchadnezzar thousands of years in the past.

CLASSICAL INTERPRETATION OF DANIEL 2:31-44

1. Head of Gold= Babylon during the time of Daniel
2. Chest and Arms of Silver=The Kingdom of Media Persia
3. Belly and Thighs of Bronze=The Grecian Empire
4. Legs of Iron=Roman Empire
5. Feet of Iron & Clay=From the Days of the European Monarchies until present day until the Anti-Christ inspired Reassembled Roman Empire
6. Rock that Strikes the Feet=The return of Christ from heaven to defeat the Anti-Christ’s kingdom
7. Mountain Growing and Filling the Whole Earth=Kingdom of Christ filling the Whole Earth.

This interpretation seems neat as a pin. But it poses some problems if we look at it carefully. Iron represents pagan Emperors, Kings & Rulers that seek conquest through armed strength (Daniel 2:40). Clay represents Kingdoms that have been built up by God but have turned to idolatry & evil. (Jeremiah 18:5-10 & Jeremiah 19 )

Daniel 2:43-44 This mixture of iron and clay also shows that these kingdoms will try to strengthen themselves by forming alliances with each other through intermarriage. But they will not hold together, just as iron and clay do not mix.
“During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.(NLT)

Many agree that Europe is described by the feet partly of iron and clay. The problem being that most scholars also say that the rock tossed at the statue’s feet is the return of Christ.

In stating that they are saying that return of Christ must take place during the reign of those kings. As we have discussed earlier few Kings or Queens are left in Europe. Those that are left are mere figureheads (a constitutional or elected monarchy is not a monarchy).

The common explanation is that Presidents & Prime Ministers should be put in the category with Kings.

The problem being that in order to adhere to this prophecy we need a divided war torn Europe. The presidents & prime ministers need to be trying to bring intermarriage of themselves with those of other European countries. They must be doing this with the goal of alliances. Peace and strength through intermarriage of rulers (in some interpretations the “seed of men”).

Also some of those rulers will need also have to be warlike empires bent on conquest. Some will have to be followers of God that have fallen into the trap of idolatry. This description fits hand in glove with Europe 900AD-1798AD. Even up to the 1920’s it would have been plausible. But the current political scene in Europe in no way describes these conditions.

Although we see some spurts of despotic rule in Europe such as Putin’s recent adventures. Europe’s trend is towards military, genetic and financial deterioration. The divisions that crop up seem more like a crumbling than a hot conflict. In order to accept the classic interpretation we would need to soon see Europe go in complete reverse gear and go back to where they were politically 100s of years ago. An unwieldy hypothesis at best.

What makes this scenario even harder is that what we are witnessing in current events so closely resembles what Daniel describes as the Kingdoms and Monarchies of Europe have been ground into dust and are blowing away.

Daniel describes this event as happening at one time worldwide. In the English translation it seems like it was one quick event that happened at one time.

Daniel 2:35 (part) The whole statue was crushed into small pieces of iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold. Then the wind blew them away without a trace, like chaff on a threshing floor.

But really what is being said is that this trend was not isolated to Europe it will happen worldwide. Indeed we have seen many dictatorships fall by the wayside recently.

UPDATED HISTORISTISM VIEW OF DANIEL 2:31-44

7. Mountain Growing and Filling the Whole Earth=The unhealthy growth of the kingdom Christ had established for his people.

The Statue in Daniel 2 pertains to nations and not individuals. Indeed the first coming of Christ was not shown(during the Iron legs of Rome)in this vision neither would the second coming. A stone or a rock does not only symbolize Christ it symbolizes His people also.(1 Peter 2:5). This symbolism of a rock breaking the statue feet first is the coming of the Pilgrims to New England to establish the Physical Kingdom of Christ.

Isaiah 66:8 Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem's birth pains begin, her children will be born.

Usually this verse is reserved as a prophecy for the reestablishment of the State of Israel. But the nation of Israel was not born in 1948 it was restored. I believe this and many other verses and even chapters in the Bible point to the coming of the Separatist Pilgrims to New England Settling in Plymouth in 1620.

As overcoming Christians the Pilgrims were true children of Abraham grafted on by faith. Children of Jerusalem above (Galatians 4:26).

It is my firm belief that many of the Pilgrim leadership were aware of God’s plan but having seen the unhealthy results of making these types of proclamations. (This awareness of their fulfillment of Daniel 2 may have come prior to their landing or been revealed later.)

The Pilgrims had previously been citizens of Leiden in Holland. A citizen of Leiden had decades before made declarations that the kingdom on Christ had come to earth and had taken the city of Muenster in Germany by force. Bringing mass hysteria, confusion, sin and disgrace upon Christendom. Jon of Leiden ruled Muenster as a twisted Theocracy. A joint armed force of Catholics and Protestant forces invaded Muenster to restore order.

This brought an understanding to the Pilgrims that as Christ had been born of humble means. He had not come making bold declarations of his status. He had even warned those he had done miracles not bring attention to himself. So Christ wished his physical kingdom to be born in similar ways.

As a testimony to later generations the early Pilgrims later set up a stone (later called Plymouth Rock) to let the people of God know that Daniel 2:34 had been fufilled. The execution of King Charles 1 of England and England’s being declared a Commonwealth in 1649 must have shaken the remaining Pilgrims to action.

Setting up an uncarved stone was a wise spiritual work. It was common Old Testament practice to set up an uncarved stone to mark the location where something important occurred in God’s kingdom (Joshua 24:26, Genesis 28:18 1 Samuel 7:12). Also to bear testimony to the fulfillment of Daniel 2:34 that the landing of the Pilgrims in 1620 was the establishment of the physical kingdom of Christ on earth. A place where all of God’s people could live life and worship their God in peace and harmony without persecution. It was also an eschatological marker so that the body of Christ could be aware later what were the times and dates we are in.

But as the folly of man stepped in Plymouth Rock was established as the place where the Pilgrims first put their feet upon (actually it may have been placed over the spot where they first stepped on the Plymouth Beach.)Later attempting to drag it inland they broke it in 2 pieces. Now it was no longer a pillar.

But the important part is still invisibly bearing testimony in the sands of Plymouth Beach. The visible portion was defiled by a carving tool with the date 1620.The carved portion was later glued to the invisible portion then placed in a gilded cage as a monument to patriotism. God’s people worshipping his Kingdom not the King that gave it life.

To address the portion that says that the rock that was not carved by human hands grew into a mountain that filled the whole earth.

Jeremiah 51:25-26 25 “Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain,
Who destroys all the earth,” says the LORD.“And I will stretch out My hand against you,Roll you down from the rocks, And make you a burnt mountain.26 They shall not take from you a stone for a corner Nor a stone for a foundation, But you shall be desolate forever,” says the LORD.

In eschatological terms a growing mountain does not bode good for our immediate future. Please for blind patriots and racists please do not pervert these writings to puff yourselves up. Although God promises that this land will not be left (conquered) to another people he promises no immunity from his own harsh discipline when His people disobey Him.

So if we correct mistaken eschatological writings where are we are what are the next events we can expect in the near future. Some of these are no brainers others may surprise and go against what you have been taught about end times. As with any trend at times we will seem to be going against what is prophesied in the word of God. But where we finish it what is most important not the twists and turns we take getting there.

We will see in the short and long term through protest, the power of the electorate, death, armed intervention or revolution. Arabia become a democracy. Assad losing complete control of Syria. Putin losing his iron grip on Russia his attempt to reassemble the USSR will fail completely.

China will continue to trend away from centralization of power. North Korea will in no short order lose it’s dictator. Cuba will be a democracy and the offspring of Castro will have little or no part in Cuba’s future. The middle east will be democratic with some exceptions theocracies will take hold but even these will trend towards deterioration.

The figurative monarchs in the UK, Spain, Norway, The Netherlands, Demark even minor monarchs like those in Monaco and Luxembourg will remove themselves or be removed by scandal or budgetary constraints or even force. Europe will continue the trend towards deterioration.

We will see the USA continue to grow in unhealthy power and strength and somehow go even farther astray and cause harm not good to the peoples of the world. We be harshly disciplined and humbled (not judgment)and later restored.

Daniel 4:27 Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”
