Some four months ago I broke my ankle at age forty nine. I have never had anything broken before this sudden mishap has offset me physically and mentally.
I was ready for recovery but recovery healing is taking it's own sweet time. I began to look at this from faith perspective and spiritual. How do you handle wanting healing and recovery but it just doesn't seem to come?
After dealing with this random pain I began to become frustrated. Some days I walked with no limp others I could barely walk. Isn't this the way we are in our emotions when someone has hurt us? Some days we are resilient we handle or mask the pain well, while other days our emotion, reactions, and memory holds us hostage. The other frustration was well intended friends looking at me walk good one day, one minute and then seeing me limp. I wanted to cry out and say "I'm hurting don't you see me" But then I remembered I have masked the pain, my walk because I want to be "normal" walk normal! I began to feel the prejudice of being disabled, handicap, disfigured and different not myself. I thought of how much courage it takes to just be in a society of able body people. Things we take for granted and the people. I went to a Orthopedic Hospital and as soon as I walked in I no longer felt like a leper, disfigured, crippled and broken. In the midst of crutches, walkers, cast and orthopedic boots I felt normal, accepted, seen,
understood . I felt hope, empathy in the midst of brokenness I belonged. What a panoramic paradoxical moment for me!!
God loves, accept and gives hope in the midst of brokenness and most importantly I belong to HIM!
Dear God I belong!!!
