Encouragement
How deep is the love of God? Do you ever find yourself asking just how much does God love me? How patient and how urgent is God's desire for each one of us to come into a relationship with Him? Why don't we take a look at the life of Jesus and see just how deep His love is for us?
As I have been reading John 13 and 14 today, it really stood out to me just how patient Jesus is with His disciples. He must have told them over and over several times that He was about to die on a cross and yet they still don't understand what He is talking about.
Does Jesus get mad or not repeat Himself? No, Jesus wants us to know for sure without a doubt that He loves us. As Jesus was preparing to leave, He took the time to let the disciples know that when He leaves that He will send the Holy Spirit to empower and guide them in life. John 14:15-18 says, "If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit who leads you into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No I will not abandon you as orphans- I will come to you."
What more than anything speaks louder than anything? I believe it is being there for those you love. Jesus says that He will not abandon them and leave them to figure it out by themselves but knew that they would need help and encouragement from the Holy Spirit. It sometimes can feel like we are fighting a battle by ourselves but it is so important daily to ask the Lord to fill us with the Holy Spirit and listen to Him as He guides us to be lights in the world.
The next time you wonder does God really love me, just think of those friends who have always been there for you or those family members who have been there through the thick and thin. When you do this, you will be reminded that God's love is even greater than that. He will never leave you but He will be there to guide you in this life.
Take courage this day that wherever you are that His love will guide you through it all. Thank you Jesus! God is so good!
