1Co 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

God is a sovereign God who is in control. He is the one who orchestrates and arranges every single situation we will ever be in.

Four facts about temptation:

1. Temptation in itself is not sin. If it is, then the Lord Jesus sinned since He was tempted. But being exposed to temptation is not sin. However, giving in to temptation is sin.

2. Every single temptation that you will ever experience is common. Know that whatever temptation you are facing now, many of God's saints already went through it before. The devil will try to convince you that yours is an exception, that it is a special kind and that it is unique. His aim is to make you believe that you can be excused for giving in to sin since yours is an exceptional case.

3. Every single temptation that a Christian will encounter is custom-made according to his capability to bear it. You will never be in a situation wherein you can legitimately say: "I can't overcome this temptation. It is just too much to handle!"

4. Every single temptation always has an escape latch somewhere and somehow. You will never be in a situation wherein you can truly say: "But I have no choice! I could never do otherwise!"

God's purpose in allowing Satan to tempt you is to make you depend on Him for strength. The lesson again is dependence.
