You will not find what you think you will find
Condemning autonomy
Power that destroys the will
Narcissism of one who wishes to prove superiority

Seek and you will surely find
But what eyes do you see with?
What ears do you choose to hear with?
What hands do you touch each day with?

The written code can never be enough to satisfy thirst
Or give you food that will not let you starve
"I am enough keep you" we say with confidence
But our words are even weaker than our resolve

Desire what the will wants
Acceptance of only what we do
Condemning the same action in others
Yet the need to guard our own will does certainly drive us on
Away and still further from hope

So look we do not
Ask, we do not stop
Because fear of what we will find feeds apprehension
Far away from that which asks only submission
Leading us to disregard the way of Truth

Yet placidness we do not believe we will see
A demanding and angry perfection we expect to discover
Desiring our dominance
Ready and willing to condemn us by all we cannot do
And in all we have done
Convicting through what we cannot keep
And by all we have gained
So on we run

Further and further away from a beginning
Closer and closer to our final end
Yet behind us, Love diminishes the gap
And the only thing we must do for life to flourish
is to stop and turn around
Discovering that all along He has been chasing you
Arms stretched out wide
As wide as the day He died
For it is you He has always wanted
And within His arms is found exactly the opposite of what you thought you would find
No powerful force ready to condemn wrongdoing
No Being waiting to subjugate you for all that you are not
But a Love who has waited to give you all you can ever be
All you will ever need
And all you cannot alone achieve
A Savior who intensely pursued as you ran away
When you believed what was important was only what was in front of you
A Father who has longed to tell you one forever truth
"I have always loved you, and in Today you will never see your end"
