Who is your spouse to you?

“And Adam said this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

This understanding should stem from the period of making a choice about him or her! Who exactly were you searching for? A husband or a wife, a Help meet or a maid, an item or a treasure, assets or companion, sex object or a friend, bone of your bones or a burden, flesh of your flesh or fantasy? Who you were searching for defines who you think your husband or wife is now. What do you intend to be to him or her: A dictator, a deceiver, a sorrow, a success, a friend or an enemy? This defines what kind of love we have for each other. Once we have a wrong idea about our spouses’ life, potential and purpose, our relationship is likely going to be wrong to producing a godly home we may dream. It is a faulty foundation if we do not know who we should wait, search and work for and with before and after the union!

Do you understand what God called him or her? Adam heard God called her “Help meet”. Eve knew who she was to Him. This understanding brought out the name he called her “Woman”- A Wonder out of man!
If we would not recognise the right nature, position, responsibility and name of our spouses, there may be conflict in roles and duty at home. God introduced her, Adam recognised, accepted and named her with a beautiful and appreciative tones and Eve was silent, doing what? Busy providing the help that Adam had never had and will never in her absence!
