PREVIOUSLY IN THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD REVISITED...

Ben and the group visit the ancient Olmec civilization site in Mexico and see some artifacts. While visiting the site, Ben, after nervous hesitation, tells Stephanie that he loves her after she tells him she loves him.

AND NOW...

After they left the site of the ancient Olmec civilization, the group got back into the airplane and headed toward the region where the Aztecs use to live. As they flew Lionel explained to them that the Spanish conquered many regions in Central and South America during the sixteenth century, including the Aztecs of Mexico and the Incas of Peru.

"What kinds of things will we see when we land in the regions of the Aztecs and the Mayas?" Matthew asked.

"Well, Matthew, the Aztecs built things like pyramids and statues of warriors," Alexis said. "And then the Mayans have their calendar and the Aztecs have their sun calendar."

"That's cool," said Matthew. "Can't wait!"

When the group landed in the region where the Aztecs formerly lived, they saw all of the pyramids. They were big and fascinating. "I actually remember seeing these in my history books," said Ben. "Of course, they were just in photos. It's cool to see them up close."

"It sure is," Stephanie agreed, taking his hand. "Oh, Ben, this is wonderful! I'm only seventeen and I feel like I'm seeing the whole world!"

"Well, honey, you basically are," Lionel told her. "The seven cities of gold are in different parts of the world."

Just then Stephanie's phone made the sound it always made to tell her she had a text coming. She quickly checked it. "It's from my sister, Elizabeth!" she exclaimed excitedly. "Does anyone mind if I check it right now?"

"Not at all, sweetheart," Alexis said. "Go ahead."

Stephanie checked the message, and her eyes widened with even more excitement. "Yay! She's going to be staying in the Andes as an exchange student. She'll arrive there next week. That's where we're to supposed to find the first city of gold."

"Sweet!" Ben exclaimed. "You can spend some time with her, if it's okay with Lionel and Alexis."

"Oh, it sure is fine with us," Lionel said. "You are welcome to spend time with your sister, Stephanie. We know you miss her and the rest of your family."

"Oh, thank you guys so much!" Stephanie threw her arms around both Lionel and Alexis. She turned to Ben and threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. "And she'll finally get to meet you!"

Ben kissed Stephanie. "Can't wait."

Lionel and Alexis took the kids to visit the Mayan territories, which were in varying regions in Mexico. They showed them the Mayan calendar and ancient Mayan hieroglyphics. The three teenagers knew they would never forget everything they had been learning.
