John 4:31-34 says;

Meanwhile the disciples besought him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." 32 But he said to them, "I have to eat of which you do not know." 33 So the disciples said to one another, "Has anyone brought him food?" 34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work." (RSV).

These verses serve as food for thought for me for an ample of days. The problem was not that i don't know that the will of God should be my heart desire, but the problem was embedded in the words 'my food' and 'the will of him who sent me(God)'. This prompt my vigorous research in the word of God in an attempt to discovering the will of God Jesus was actually talking about.

The word, 'the will of God' seems to be popular among people, but i doubt if the actual meaning of the word 'the will of God' is rightly conceived. Many have defined the will of God to mean living a fulfilled life. Some purported that it is using your gifts and talents for God. The definition that it is what God preplanned for man to become on earth is also prevalent among other good ideas about the will of God. I, however, noticed that all these ideas are based on destiny. I noticed that many have subsequently substituted the will of God to mean destiny(what God want us to be while on earth). It seems to be confusing. Is my destiny not the will of God, someone may ask. It is the same thing, some people may say, but as for me, the truth is yet to be unfold.

My reservations are; is it not possible for one to actually be what God has predestined for one's life but eventually end up in hell? If yes, can we say then that it is also the will of God for such to end up in hell? Is it not possible for a predestined Prophet to eventually become a Prophet but end up in hell at the end? If becoming a Prophet as predestined by God is the will of God, can we say such has done the will of God even by going to hell knowing fully well that such end up in hell because of sinful act? In other words, is it the will of God to live in sin? This is really a serious matter.

This is my conclusion. Destiny and the will of God are two sides of a coin. They are two different words that cannot be used interchangeably in their real contest.

If destiny is becoming or actualizing what God has predestined one for, what then is the will of God?

John 6:38-40
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of Him who sent me; 39 and this is the will of Him who sent me, that i should lose nothing of all he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life; and i will raise him up at the last day.

These verses have actually exposed what the will of God is all about. It's all about not loosing all what God has given to us, but raise them up at the last day. In addition, according to those verses, the will of God is to have eternal life.

These verses seem to provide an answer to the question raised earlier on, but on the other hand, they created another vital question; what are all God has given me that i should not lose but raise up at the last day?

Well, you might be thinking they are your talent(s) as the case may be, your calling, your car, job, wife, house, et all, you are propably right. Whatever you have listed, or thought of, are given to you by God. But the question is, are those things what God would not want you to lose and raise up at the last day? The answer is capital no. If all what you thought of are things of this world, they will surely perish in this world. Not even your talent is useful in heaven, because everyone who makes it to heaven will automatically become a chorister. No Evangelist, no Pastor, no Prophet or whatsoever. All will perish in this world. What then has God given you that He doesn't want you to lose, and in addition, that you must raise up at the last day?

As far as i know for now through the help of the holy spirit, there are two major and unanimous things God has given to all beings that He would not want anyone to loose but raise up at the end.

The first gift is your life.
Gen. 2:7 says, then the Lord God formed man out of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being.

That's the first gift God gave man. When God formed man out of dust, man was never a living being not until the breath of life was given to him.
God's initial plan was that man would live forever, but the disobedience of man jeopardized the plan. That led to the incedence in the chapter three of that same Genesis where God ordained man to go back to their source; the flesh, to the dust, and the life back to Him (the source) because the life was not from the dust but from God.

Therefore, the will of God is for you and i not to loose the life He has given us. His will is that at the end of everything, when the flesh shall return to its source, the life also shall return to it rightful origin and not in the lake of fire. Therefore, your food, heart desire and basic need should be to ensure that your life is raised up at the end. You may be blessed with many material things and even spiritual gifts to make your life meaningful, but your life will be meaningless if it ends in hell.
The only way for your life to get back to its source (God) is to be holy, to be clean, or rather, permit me to use the word 'purely pure'.

Remember the bible says no unclean person has inheritance in the kingdom of God (Eph. 5:5). That's tantamount to being a bastard! When one has no inheritance from one's source.

The principle is simple. God is holy, and so, he gave you a holy life, and you must present that life back to Him in its holy state. As long as we don't return dirty plates to their source(plate rag e.t.c) unless they are washed, so also lives full of stains(sin) will not return to God, their source.

So what Jesus was emphasising in that verse is that His priority is to live a holy and righteous life so that His spirit will actually get back to Him who sent Him. If Jesus had done all the wonders, and at the end, his spirit failed to ascend to heaven to meet his father, would we have said he did the will of the father? Certainly not. The same is applicable to us. If we perform all the miracles and wonders, all the evangelizing and whatever task God has commissioned into our hands individually, but failed to present our spirit back to him on the last day, then we have not fulfilled the will of God.

Matthew 7:21 says;
Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Again, Jesus emphasized the will of the God here as the passport to the kingdom of God, nothing else.

1Corinthians 6:9 says;
'Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?............'.

Therefore, the will of God, without which no one can enter the kingdom of God according to Matthew 7:21, is actually the righteousness referred to in that 1 Corinthians 6:9.
The will of God is for us to be righteous and holy. That's all. Nothing else matters to God.

Jesus used the word "my food" when He was actually in need of food to denote how important the will of the Father(holiness) was to Him.

In conclusion, the will of God is for everyone to make heaven, and this can only be achieved by being holy, not by fulfilling destiny.

Mat. 16:26 says;
For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?

This verse has even thrown more light on the issue at hand. It has made it clear that God is expecting every life to return to him. And God is asking, what shall you give in return if your life will not return back to its source(God)?
Brethren, i beseech you therefore to let righteousness and holiness be your food, your priority and all you desire, without it, you cannot fulfill the will of your creator.

If you have been ministered to by the Holy spirit through this piece of work, i want you to beg God this moment to give you the grace to live a holy life so as to fulfill the real will of God(getting to heaven). Remember, by strength no man shall prevail( 1Samuel 2:9).

As you've said, so shall it be in Jesus name.
