The Enemy Within
By J. C. Corcoran
April 30, 2014
On March 30, 2014, just one month ago, I posted a message titled “Eve of Destruction.” In that message I suggested that you pray for Barack Obama. What I am about to say now might seem like a contradiction and may even cause some Christians to wince but say it I must.
I believe that God directs us, His children, by His word. That’s why I believe, and I have said it many times in here that we need to read and study the word every day. Yesterday, I watched a Billy Graham Crusade from 1971 and Billy stated that he reads five Psalms every day. I thought that was good advice; five Psalms a day will allow me to read the entire book of Psalms every month.
So I began today, 4/30/2014, reading five Psalms every day, and I was amazed or maybe shocked would be a better word, by what I read in the 5th Psalm. When you think about the fact that Jesus instructed us to love our enemies, these words from the 5th Psalm will probably shock you also.
But keep in mind also that in the Book of Acts 5:28-29, we read these words:
“The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!”
So now, with all that in mind, let’s look at Psalm 5 starting in verses 4 & 5:
“For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; you destroy those who tell lies.”
Many people, including myself, have spoken of the arrogance of Obama, Reid, and Pelosi; and many people, including myself, believe that Obama and most of Congress tell lies every time they open their mouths. According to the above scripture then, God is not pleased with these people; it actually says that He hates them.
I also read, today, an article in the Canada Free Press by Doug Hagmann. He says:
“Today in America, there are an increasing number of men and women who see the ominous parallels between the pre-Revolutionary War days and the present day. Instead of an overt foreign enemy, we are facing a more insidious threat spoken of by not only some of the heroes of the Revolutionary War, but warned of by Communist insiders and defectors: the threat from within.”
Mr. Hagmann further states the following:
“We, as the contemporaries of our forefathers, are now the domestic terrorists. We have been declared the enemy, in speech and in writing, and there is a willing army forming at their hands to create two classes of people, those who are in power and those who are their subjects. Again, there is no ambiguity in their words and deeds. If you do not—or choose not to— understand and call out the traitorous and seditious actions of those in power and their complicit media lapdogs, along with their resolve to use everything in their arsenal to marginalize and vilify the outspoken patriots who are fighting to stop further oppression while regaining lost ground, then you deserve what’s coming as that’s exactly what you’ve earned.”
I must agree with Mr. Hagmann that if we don’t fight back, we deserve what’s coming. It is obvious to me and, I hope, to many of you, if not all of you, that our government leaders are trying their best to destroy the works of Christianity, which is exactly what they were doing in the story we read in the Book of Acts, chapter 5 when Peter told them: “We must obey God rather than human beings!”
So I would like to suggest that we still pray for these people, who purport to be our leaders, pray for their salvation and pray that the Holy Spirit will convict them of their sin. But then I would suggest that you follow up that prayer with the words from the 5th Psalm, verses 9-10:
Pray these words, directly from the word of God, out loud to God;
“Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.”
This is not a contradiction; by praying for them you are hoping that God will turn them around; but God knows their hearts and in Romans 12:19 it says that God is the avenger so you are not wrong in either prayer. In the one you are asking for their salvation and in the other you asking God to avenge us if they will not turn to God.
It is my belief that these people know the one thing holding this country together is the Christians faith in God and that they actually fear us, and that is why they are trying so desperately to destroy us. The Sanhedrin had the same fear; they were going to lose control if they failed to stop the movement of Christianity.
So we need to wake up the sleeping giant. Christians need to unite; forget denominationalism; forget your differences of opinion; begin to fill Jerusalem (in our case the United States) with His teaching. You don’t have to be an Apostle to talk about Jesus; you don’t even have to be a preacher or a pastor; you just have to be a believer, a disciple. Fight back with prayer and the word of God; stand up and be counted; and the time to start is now!
We came very close only a few weeks ago to seeing and hearing the first shots fired in Nevada. So, that Eve of Destruction I spoke about last month may not be as far away as we would like to think. I don’t suppose all patriots are born-again Christians but I believe that all Christians should be patriots and it is our duty to fight to preserve this great country of ours. Many born-again Christians might find it hard to take up a weapon to fight but every born-again Christian should be and better be praying.
If you have any comments for or against what I have just said, please go to the contact page and send them to me. And may the Lord our God bless this country. Amen.
