The Heart of the Matter
Lord, when did my life get away from me?
My energy is spent in frantic motion, but I am not getting anywhere
My calendar and my days are filled with activities, but I have forgotten why I am doing them.
My minivan is filled with children, but I don’t know them.
My life is being controlled by the person who yells the loudest.
My home is filled with noise, but no one is talking
My husband and I live like managers rather than lovers
My friends and I don’t have the time, or honesty to really impact each other
My roles (mom, wife, friend, worker, church lady) go on like costumes; unfortunately I seem to have misplaced my real clothes
I don’t even know what I’m trying to do …..
Daughter, what you have lost is… your heart!
Your heart is the place where you and I meet for communion
Your heart is the gift that you give away in friendship
Your heart is the place where familiar love grows to passion
Your heart is the vessel into which I whisper direction
Your heart is the fire by which your children find warmth and safety
Your heart is the mainspring of your life and when you have lost it-
you have lost everything!

Dear Debra, It is so hard to comment on something like this article. There is so much sadness and loneliness shown. I pray for you, dear lady, that you would, once again find that love and peace that must have been there from the start of your relationships. Never give up on love. Start with God; love Him enough to know who you are in Him…then love yourself as the precious person He created you to be.
