“Incredible!”  Amazing!”  From the very beginning of his existence acclaim rolled off our lips.  As his younger brother I always looked up to him.  Bright, shining, he was called the Morning Star, Son of the Dawn.  I loved him second only to my Creator.

He walked in wisdom and understanding.  His skills were beyond compare; melodious, an orchestra unto himself, music oozed from his very pores.  His beauty and glory brought great riches, more gold and precious stones than the mind could comprehend.  If he had only remained humble, how different it might be.

But Lucifer grew proud of his exalted position.  Arrogance hardened his heart.  I tried to warn him, but he wouldn’t listen.  “Michael, you’re a mighty warrior, but such a fool.  Join me in the rebellion.”

 He desired to ascend to the highest pinnacle of the sacred mountain.  It grieved me to see the stars shining in his eyes, knowing the folly.

 He gathered a third of our kind and approached the throne of heaven.  Gabriel had to restrain me as I tried to stop him.  Nothing could.  His corruption had become absolute.

Standing before the Holy One whose essence is indescribable, His being so pure, Lucifer began to change, he and all his followers.  The darkness of their hearts manifested itself in their bodies.  They shifted and changed as their wickedness enveloped all that they were.  Grotesque, ugly; his disciples were twisted into unspeakable horrors.  Lucifer, continuing to stand in his pride, metamorphed into a serpent, a great dragon.

 I screamed, “No…!” because I knew his fate was sealed.  He had sinned.  His was a spiritual death, and all beings, men and angels would be judged in their sins.

 Our command came as they all did: with love, and the regret in our Father’s voice revealed the brokenness of his heart.  I was obedient as I always will be.  I slashed with my double-edged sword, joining with Gabriel and the host of heaven, driving Lucifer and his demons from the presence of God.
