Staying Pure When You are a Teen

Staying sexually pure and close to God is always important, but especially when you are a teen and not married. There is such temptation to not do so, but it is well worth the strength and commitment and the reward when you do.

In recent times, there is such propaganda through magazines, music, movies, television, advertising-whether in magazines or radio and television commercials, etc. to convince all to participate in the "sexual revolution". We get so bombarded in all directions that we start to believe that it is the thing to do.

Staying pure means that we know that we are children of God and we don't do that because we love Him.

However, staying pure means that you don't participate at all, not even in your mind or heart. Once you have been involved, you are no longer pure. You also will taste the bitterness, remorse and sadness of regret and shame.

In the Bible, God makes it very clear that sexual purity is very important to Him. Even in the Old Testament, God asked the Israelites to abstain from intimacy when they were preparing to be in His Presence.

Staying sexually pure is love gift to God. To let Him know how much that you love Him and that you are committed to taking care of the precious gift that He gave you - your body, His temple.
By letting Him pick your marriage partner, then you honor Him once again by showing that depth of commitment and love to Him.

There is a strength in character and person when someone stays pure. You stand out like a shining light to others encouraging them to do the same. In this world, we need everyone to stand true to their convictions and beliefs. It is one of our gifts to each other and to the world. It makes the world a better place to live.

It is all about making a decision and living true to it. Would you rather be pure and be pleasing to God or would you rather experience bitterness, shame, guilt, remorse and regret that you ever were involved? There is more joy in remaining pure. Imagine on your wedding night, when you present yourself to your husband knowing that you have given him the best gift yourself - pure. Imagine when Your Saviour comes to your wedding feast and you present yourself to Him pure. What joy!!!
