The Power of Prayer

The foundation for praying to God should always start by directing our prayers to His majesty and glory. For had it not been for these two things, we would not have been created and therefore loved by this being that we can’t physically see, but can hear, feel, and know intimately. Prayer must begin with us giving God the adoration He is due for the things He does in our lives that make us His. To know that we can ask our infinite God for anything we desire is an incredible thing to know and do. It shouldn’t matter if we get what we ask for, it should just simply matter that we are even allowed to ask! I believe that the more suffering God has taken you out of the more you will want to magnify His glory in your life.

When we are done magnifying and praising Him, we must then be thankful for all that He has done in our lives. We must thank Him that He took us out of our pain, placed us on feet of strength, and healed us so that we could take His word out to others who are hurting just as much as we once had. Our prayers must always have a thankful element to them, for God doesn’t have to help us, but He does simply because He loves us and wants to see us succeed at what He give us a purpose to do.

God does these things for us because He wants us to tell others about Him and His love and mercy. The foundation of our prayers for non-Christians must begin with praying for the breaking of their hearts, so they can see God in the things we tell them about Him. When we pray for the lost, our prayers need the power of God to break the cloak of Satan off their eyes and hearts, especially when it comes to the devil’s lies about God and Jesus Christ. We must always pray for God to do the work in their lives, for only He can change their hearts to see the truth about themselves and their need for a Savior.
