Matthew 19:26 (NIV) “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

“It doesn’t matter what you heard impossible is not a word, it is just a reason for someone not to try.” This line is taken from a song by the band Kutless entitled “What Faith Can Do”; it is one of the few songs that brings me to tears and drops me to my knees when I hear it. I think it is because I am reminded of all the times I failed and at the same time I am overwhelmed by all the “impossibilities” that God has allowed me to overcome. If the Bible tells us that “all things are possible with God” and Kutless tells us that “impossible is not a word”; then Christian what is holding you back?

Jesus answers this question several times throughout His ministry, “you of little faith”. “Little faith; my faith is pretty big I think” I blurt out as the immature child in me briefly seizes control of my tongue. “Who or what is my faith being compared to?” I ask since I have already gone down that road. If I am being compared to Jesus then yes I “have little faith”, compared to the Apostles all right I concede to them as well, but compared to X, Y, and Z; not a chance; my faith is certainly greater than theirs. Jesus however, puts me in my place and compares my faith to the tiny mustard seed, “If you have faith as small as mustard seed….all things are possible with God, but you of little faith.” What, my faith is smaller than this? I would love to think that my faith is larger than some small seed; so what is the problem? Why do I still struggle with the word impossible? Why do I feel I am not overcoming?

Do we struggle with the impossible like saying to the “mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea”, or “saying to the mountain move from here to there and it will move” because we do not even try, because we believe that the problem is impossible? “All things are possible with God” and all you need is “faith the size of a mustard seed” to overcome the impossible. Christians we need to be bold and challenge ourselves to do the impossible. God has given us the incredible gift of faith so that we can conquer all the impossible obstacles in our lives. Remember “all things are possible with God” and “impossible is not a word” start living like a Christian.
