It is heartwarming for many of us to hear that it’s impossible to flunk out of the “School of The Holy Spirit” because the tests are given over and over again until finally we pass them, and also they are all “open book tests” (The Bible of course being the book.) Take the multiple choice test of one question presented in Deuteronomy chapter 30.
God places before us life with good and death with evil and says to make our choice. Then as if God knows we might need a little nudge of help He kind of whispers in our ears, “Choose life.” What might be considered cheating in another school isn’t here. Why? Because God wants to see us succeed, and didn’t give the test to catch us in our ignorance in order to fail us. Multiple choice tests are usually kind of long but this is only one question. Wow! One question and it’s not even an essay test? That’s right. One quick question that sums up all questions which is why it can be only one; life or death, it’s a life or death question you may say, and that’s why God wants so badly for us to get it right. So badly that He has the patience to give it over and over until the day we do, and He can celebrate with us! It’s an open-book test and God has highlighted the answer. This that I give you today, God says, is “not to difficult or mysterious, or beyond your reach.” In other words, this isn’t rocket science. We can get it, especially if we exercise a child-like faith!
