The Apostle Peter wanted to stay on the Mount of Transfiguration(Matthew 17) with the bright-shining Jesus and his friends and former business partners James and John.(Interesting how they were still partners but in being about Father God’s business now.) He wanted to build three tabernacles on that mountain; one for Jesus, and also ones for Moses and Elijah who had appeared to them there. But Jesus wasn’t having any part of it. After all, he knew that within weeks Peter would have passed through several valleys learning valuable and “crucial” lessons and be preaching to a multitude, with thousands being saved. Jesus knew that, as wonderful as it was to be on that mountain enveloped in all that glorious light, the church had not yet been birthed and that Peter was to be a key to that momentous delivery!
Sometimes even as sojourners we want to camp out in particularly pleasant terrain during this spiritual sojourn. But to do so might result in our missing some of the major highlights of our lives which our God has so loving planned and mapped out for us beforehand.
